Glencoe Camping and Caravanning Club Site is among the best in Scotland
Glencoe Camping and Caravanning Club Site in Argyll has been highly commended at the 2006 Scottish Thistle Awards. The award ceremony for the best Camping and Caravan Park in the Customer Care category took place at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre on Friday 27 October.
The beautiful, 120 pitch camp site, beat off stiff competition to reach the finals of this top, celebrated award for tourism in Scotland, at the ceremony hosted by Scottish personalities Jackie Bird and Tam Cowan and organised by VisitScotland.
The Site, which only became part of the Club’s network in 2004, demonstrated to the judges an outstanding contribution to the tourist industry, providing excellent service and customer care.
Willie MacLeod, Director of Visitor Services and Quality for VisitScotland said: “The Scottish Thistle Awards are a celebration of the very best in Scottish tourism and to reach the final is an outstanding achievement.
“Tourism is an extremely competitive industry, but with businesses like those represented tonight setting the standard for Scotland, we’re undoubtedly in an excellent position to achieve the goal of growing revenues from tourism by 50% by 2015.”
Trevor Woodward, Chairman of the Sites Committee for The Camping and Caravanning Club, told us: “We are thrilled to have been highly commended at these awards. The Club has recently invested in the Site and in the region and is very proud to have been amongst the finalists. Glencoe Site is a fantastic Site; the award is well deserved by the dedicated Holiday Site Managers and team who run it.
“We have around 100 Club Sites situated in some of the most beautiful parts of the country offering award-winning accommodation. This latest commendation illustrates the Club’s on-going policy of providing and maintaining sites to the highest possible standards, resulting in quality award-winning accommodation for both members and non-members.”
