Elected National Councillor. Member of the International Committee since 2002, member of the Disciplinary Committee, Club Site Development Officer, member of the Motor Caravan Section, representing the Club as a member of the FICC Motorcaravan Commission and Northern Ireland Region Elected Councillor (Immediate Past Chairman).
I have been a Club member since 1987, at my initial stage of joining I became interested in DA camping, becoming a DA Youth Leader for seven years. With continued involvement within the DA and Northern Ireland Region I held positions as DA Regional Rep, Regional Sites Officer, Regional Secretary, Deputy Rep to National Council, Regional Vice Chairman, Regional Chairman (seven years) and Northern Ireland Region Rep to National Council. From 2006-2009 I held the position of Chairman of the International Committee and during that period I also served on the Management Committee. In 2007 I became the first elected National Councillor from Northern Ireland Region. I believe my experiences within the ethos of camping and caravanning of this Club are relevant to the position of National Councillor.
As a National Councillor I realise the importance of keeping this Club moving ahead of the times. By constantly addressing members’ concerns, ideas, queries, along with constructive criticisms at National level, can only go towards increasing the popularity and continued future success of this Club. My aspirations for this Club are to see its continued future development, to prosper with increases in membership, offering excellent quality Club Sites and facilities, affordable camping for all ages in all forms of camping, getting members involved within DA’s, Regions, Sections and various Committees, to continually improving our Club status and travel service department. Therefore by achieving this we are keeping ‘The Friendly Club’ a viable growing concern as it has been and should be for many years to come.
