With summer well and truly behind us, it’s tough finding things to be positive about in that lull before Christmas. But I’m going to give it a go. Unsurprisingly my silver lining comes in the form of food. Shellfish-shaped to be precise. Clams, cockles, mussels, winkles and oysters are at their best time of the year, and one of the top places in the country to enjoy them is Whitstable on the north Kent coast. It’s also a mere 20 minutes’ drive or direct bus route from Canterbury where we happen to have an open-all-year Club Site – another silver lining.
