It’s almost a year exactly since the Kia Optima Sportswagon went on sale in the UK. In that time, a plug-in hybrid version has been added to the line-up, which at launch consisted of three specifications, 2, 3 and the GT-Line S. All have been given 1.7-litre CRDi engines, capable of 139bhp and up to 74.3mpg on the combined cycle. I drove the GT-Line S, itself boasting 61.4mpg, towing a Caravelair Antares 496 Family caravan between the Midlands and north Devon.
