Bailey Approach Advance 615: Driving

We’ve been using Bailey’s Approach Advance 615 for a few months now. It’s obviously a compact motorhome, designed really to provide getaways for a couple. This means of course that it’s lighter than many other motorhomes, the Mass in Running Order being just 2,696kg. For anyone with enough kit, the whopping 804kg payload allows you to take the vehicle up to its 3,500kg maximum weight, but realistically for a short break you’re likely to be travelling at well under three tonnes. The effect on driving is pronounced. The motorhome is more manoeuvrable and easier to coax power out of than most I’ve driven. The Peugeot 2.2-litre Boxer engine is a punchy base vehicle on which to sit the motorhome’s AL-KO AMC chassis, and is used across the four-model range, right up to the six-berth Advance 665.
