New outdoor festival plans unveiled
Details have been announced for a new summer festival in Wales featuring a campsite plus family outdoor activities.
The Snowdonia Outdoor Festival will run from 11 to 13 August on the banks of Bala Lake (pictured), close to the Club’s Bala site, and is expected to attract more than 12,000 visitors.
The event will feature a festival village with retailers and exhibitors, plus live music on the Saturday and Sunday nights. Outdoor activities are at the heart of the festival and will include guided walks, canoeing, mountain biking, open water swimming, bushcraft and stand-up paddle boarding.
The organisers, who are behind the Keswick Mountain Festival, will also stage a sporting programme including three trail runs, two open water swims and two mountain bike events.
Event Director Nicola Meadley said: “Bala Lake provides a brilliant base for exploring the north and east of the magnificent Snowdonia National Park and it’s really accessible for visitors. We are building partnerships with local organisations in the area and putting together what I’m sure will be a hugely welcome and successful addition to the summer programme of events.”
She added: “Scheduling the festival for the summer holidays gives parents a great new option for an outdoor family break in August.”
Festival tickets go on sale at the start of March and are available from the event website where full details of the programme will be listed as they are confirmed.
