Julia’s up for a challenge
Club President Julia Bradbury helped launch the DofE Diamond Challenge this week in London’s Covent Garden
The Diamond Challenge has been created to celebrate 60 years of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.
At the launch event, Julia (pictured with Davina McCall) conquered an eight-metre climbing wall set up in the Covent Garden piazza. The challenge for London was to climb the height of Ben Nevis by 4pm.
To mark the 60th anniversary of its award, the DofE is urging everyone to take on their own Diamond Challenge, from learning a new skill, to taking on a personal adventure.
According to a recent YouGov poll commissioned by the charity, although half of Britons believe it’s important to set personal challenges, only one in five people left their comfort zone in 2015.
The DofE Diamond Challenge aims to help people become more adventurous in 2016.
Challenge participants are also encouraged to raise £60 to support the DofE’s work with young people.
The Club received its own licence to operate the DofE Award last year, and is currently piloting the scheme with six members of Camping Club Youth.
