A new kind of motorcycle trailer will make its debut at the 2015 Motorhome and Caravan Show – one with a luxury folding camper underneath
Rising petrol costs, boring motorway miles and a search for greater camping comfort have seen many motorcyclists making the decision to abandon tent camping for a trailer and a motorhome, offering greater flexibility when exploring far-flung touring destinations.
The new OPUS Moto, to be launched at October’s Motorhome and Caravan Show in Birmingham, promises to be an exciting alternative for bikers who don’t want to buy, or haven’t got the space to store, a motorhome.
The OPUS Moto adds a motorcycle transport system capable of carrying two bikes to a well-equipped folding camper. Rather than relying on ramps, bikes are loaded using a boom and winch system powered by the unit’s leisure battery.
With a weight limit of 250kg per bike, OPUS believes that up to 90 per cent of current machines can be loaded using this system, which has the bonus of being operable by a single rider.
Once set up, the camper has two double beds, electric lighting, comfortable seating, cooking facilities and heating.
Orders for the OPUS Moto will be taken at the October show. Prices are expected to start at £15,995.
The Motorhome and Caravan Show will take place at Birmingham’s NEC from 13 to 18 October. Club members can buy tickets in advance from as little as £7 for senior citizens and £8 for adults, with further discounts available on Friendly Friday.
