Go camping to chill out, says Chris Evans
BBC Breakfast DJ Chris Evans this morning told his 9.5 million listeners to go camping if they wanted to relax.
Praising the stress-busting benefits of getting out with the kids, Evans told Breakfast Show listeners: “I was so stressed leaving here on Friday. I thought ‘I’m taking the kids camping, I can’t be stressed’ - but by Friday night I was so chilled.”
Joking that he had come back to work for a rest after the weekend, the presenter, who is also an ambassador for the Scouts, said: “It’s very relaxing, but everyone was asleep by 6pm last night in our house. I’m not sure whether we were all exhausted or it was just the fresh air.”
Highlights of the Evans family camping weekend included toasting marshmallows over a campfire.
The Camping and Caravanning Club’s own research, carried out for National Camping and Caravanning Week, found that children who camp outdoors at least once a year are happier and healthier, according to their parents.
“Camping really works,” Evans concluded.
