England

Highways England are responsible for England's strategic road network, that’s around 4,300 miles. While this represents only 2 per cent of all roads in England by length, these roads carry a third of all traffic by mileage and two thirds of all heavy goods traffic. We manage traffic, tackling congestion, informing road user's, improving safety, minimising adverse impact on the environment and more.

They offer a range of services, including those below.

Current projects - M5 fuel price sign trial

Sign for fuel pricing in EnglandThe trial of the electronic roadside fuel price signs has commenced and the signs will be in operation for 18 months. This will enable monitoring and evaluation to take place, continuing until the end of 2017. Customer feedback is a key factor in evaluation of the trial and determining whether there is sufficient benefit for further roll-out of the signs on other parts of the network.

Motorway Service Area (MSA) site based customer surveys are one of the ways that the views of the travelling public will be captured to inform the evaluation process. and these will take place at Gordano, Sedgemoor, Bridgwater, Taunton Deane and Exeter.
