Trees from the Centenary Wood – planted in 2001 – are now flourishing at this lovely Club Site on the Kennet and Avon Canal. The surrounding countryside includes some of the UK’s most significant prehistoric sites – and you can visit at any time of the year.

A wonderful nature site complements this lovely clean and welcoming Site - M and W Mumford


Walk to Devizes – four miles from Site – along the refurbished canal towpath, passing the 29 locks in the Caen Hill flight.

Devizes is a pretty market town. The museum has one of the finest prehistoric collections in Europe. Buses to the town stop near the Site.

Hire a boat on the Kennet and Avon Canal from Trowbridge or Devizes.

Lacock Village, Abbey and the Fox Talbot Museum are popular with visitors and film-makers alike. They are managed by the National Trust.

Bowood House and Gardens include an adventure play area and soft play palace for youngsters.

Visit the Georgian city of Bath by bus.

The Museum of Costume and Assembly Rooms in Bath hold costumes worn by film and television stars as well as original garments.

The prehistoric site at Avebury includes Avebury Henge and Stone Circles. It is a World Heritage Site.

Melksham has a good shopping centre.

Longleat – star of the BBC’s Animal Park – is one of the best examples of high Elizabethan architecture in Britain and also boasts 900 acres of landscaped parkland.

The oldest white horse in Wiltshire is at Westbury Hill, immediately below the Iron Age hill fort of Bratton Camp.

Eight of the 13 known White Horses in Wiltshire are still visible as chalk figures. The Westbury White Horse is thought to be the oldest and best situated.


Worth Noting

Private fishing is available all year round in canal adjacent to site, also cycling along canal towpath. Fees for fishing payable at reception. This site has 22 new hardstandings.

Eat Local

Several Farmers’ Markets are held locally. Padfield’s Porkies sells home-reared pork products, including sausages, gammon and dry-cured bacon.

Did You Know

The Methodist Chapel at Seend was opened by John Wesley – the founder of Methodism – in 1775. According to Wesley’s journals, he preached at Seend twice in 1749.

Arrivals after 8pm are only permitted by prior arrangement direct with Holiday Site Managers.
