Cheddar, Mendip Heights Club Site is in the heart of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty – the Mendip Hills. Midway between Cheddar Gorge and Wells, there are many attractions in this area of Somerset and the south west.

The Site is beautiful – in fact everything was lovely! - Mr and Mrs Cross


Priddy village is half a mile from Site. There are a couple of pubs serving food and an annual Sheep Fair in August.

The Cheddar Gorge Cheese Company is the only cheese-making factory actually in Cheddar.

Cheddar Gorge is a spectacular limestone gorge. It has several walks around it, some are very challenging.

Many local caves are open to the public. The most famous is Wookey Hole which is part of a collection of attractions, including a Paper Mill and Dinosaur Valley.

The Georgian city of Bath has its Roman Baths and Pump Rooms.

Visit the 12th century cathedral and Vicar’s Close in the city of Wells.

The sandy beaches at Burnham on Sea, Brean and Weston-super-Mare are less than an hour’s drive away.

Weston-super-Mare is home to the world’s largest museum dedicated to the helicopter.

Court Farm Country Park has two large indoor play areas as well as many animals.

Choose from 17 different activities at the Avon Ski and Action Centre, including skiing, snowboarding, quad biking, abseiling, power-kiting and clay-pigeon shooting.

Eat Local

The Site shop stocks locally produced preserves, pork (including bacon and sausages), lamb, beef (including burgers), chicken, eggs, cheese, cider, ales and bottled water. There is a farm Butcher next to Site and the village pubs serve local produce.

Walking Book

Available to purchase on site for £2.99. Full colour and spiral bound, this book of walks was devised by Sue Gearing - a local legend in the walking community. It's packed with walks near the site with something for all abilities.

Please note that Cheddar have created four pitches that can specifically cater for larger tents.

Limited disabled facilities The Club was working to improve accessibility of our Sites long before the Disability Discrimination Act came into force in 2004. We are committed to a continual programme of improvements through access audits to ensure our facilities are available to all.


Arrivals after 8pm are only permitted by prior arrangement direct with Holiday Site Managers.
