A lovely campsite located on a canal with a number of attractions nearby.

Our Devizes Club campsite is a lovely quiet and secluded retreat by the side of the Avon and Kennet Canal in the heart of Wiltshire. The surrounding countryside, ideal for walkers and cyclists, is where you’ll find some of the UK’s most significant prehistoric sites including the iconic Stonehenge and Avebury Stone circle.

This well-kept, tree-lined campsite provides 90 pitches, some lined by hedging to give a more private feel. In addition to the amenity blocks, campers can expect a children’s play area and playing field and a large dog field.

You can walk or cycle into Devizes from the campsite via the spectacular Caen Hill flight of 29 locks or catch a bus from the stop a five minute walk from site. Buses also operate to Melksham, Bath and Bristol from here.

This bustling historic town has weekly general and collectors' markets and a regular farmers' market. Wadworth's Brewery is here. See its famous shire horses make deliveries in town. Sample the ales at the visitor centre where tours of the brewery and stables can be booked. Also in the town is the Wiltshire Heritage Museum where you'll find Britain’s best Bronze Age archaeology collections. The Kennet and Avon Canal Trust Museum alongside the canal is where you’ll discover the fascinating story of this delightful waterway.

Further afield Longleat and its 900 acres of parkland is a great family day out.

Worth Noting

Fishing available on the canal. Fees payable at reception. Rock pegs needed for hardstandings.

Just back from a lovely 4 night stay, walked along the canal to the Caen locks, very relaxing.Shown to our pitch & helped to park up.Two nights very peaceful & private, spoiled by inconsiderate people walking either side of our pitch so having to keep our blinds closed. Would certainly visit again but if we go in the spring but a different pitch.

Just had a great relaxing 2 night stay at this site. Great site to go walking alone the canal to a great pub called the barge inn. Just outside the site is another great pub. The three magpies great food and great ale. The site is really dog friendly with a big dog walk area were the dogs can run free. The site is very clean and well kept and really peaceful. Would recommend to all families

We had a fantastic time at this campsite for our first camping trip with our baby boy.

We had a fantastic time at this campsite for our first camping trip with our baby boy. Despite a lot of the site being water logged and a lot of the grass pitches being in pretty bad shape (not the sites fault as there was very heavy rain for a number of days before our visit), the warden found us an excellent pitch by the play area. The facilities were spotless and well equipped. We were given a key to baby room which had baby change facilities, baby bath, sink and toilet all kept spotless. Showers although clean were showing signs of age and my only gripe (as with other club sites), being the push button showers (I find it takes me longer and I end up using more water). Lovely walks up and down the canal. You can push a pushchair ok along towpath, but much easier with a baby carrier on my back. Barge Inn (turn right from site along tow path) excellent food and right beside canal and about 20 minute easy walk. Turn left from site along tow path and you come to Cairne Hill locks with a nice caf at the top and then a short walk from here into Devizes with shops and the Wadworth brewery. Great stay and will be back.
