A lovely campsite located on a canal with a number of attractions nearby.

Our Devizes Club campsite is a lovely quiet and secluded retreat by the side of the Avon and Kennet Canal in the heart of Wiltshire. The surrounding countryside, ideal for walkers and cyclists, is where you’ll find some of the UK’s most significant prehistoric sites including the iconic Stonehenge and Avebury Stone circle.

This well-kept, tree-lined campsite provides 90 pitches, some lined by hedging to give a more private feel. In addition to the amenity blocks, campers can expect a children’s play area and playing field and a large dog field.

You can walk or cycle into Devizes from the campsite via the spectacular Caen Hill flight of 29 locks or catch a bus from the stop a five minute walk from site. Buses also operate to Melksham, Bath and Bristol from here.

This bustling historic town has weekly general and collectors' markets and a regular farmers' market. Wadworth's Brewery is here. See its famous shire horses make deliveries in town. Sample the ales at the visitor centre where tours of the brewery and stables can be booked. Also in the town is the Wiltshire Heritage Museum where you'll find Britain’s best Bronze Age archaeology collections. The Kennet and Avon Canal Trust Museum alongside the canal is where you’ll discover the fascinating story of this delightful waterway.

Further afield Longleat and its 900 acres of parkland is a great family day out.

Can recommend this site - ideal for touring and visiting Bath - convenient bus service just outside the gate. Good clean and modern facilites but the showers need a deep clean. Good canalside walks but take your bike to make the most of the area. Site staff very helpful and friendly and asked if there were any special requirments we might have to improve our break - well done. Local pubs good but very expensive particularly so in Bath. Good site.

An ideal base for visiting local places of interest such as Devizes, the K&A canal and Caen Locks. Or further afield you could visit Bath or Salisbury. Facilities and atmosphere on site were very good. Our only (very minor) negative was the location of the rubbish bins some way off from our pitch and no recycling.

We had booked a caravan pitch and our grandson had booked a tent pitch. The site team were extremely accommodating when we needed to change the tent booking a few weeks before we went. On arriving we were shown to pitches next to each other and we really pleased to get some extra nights available for the tent pitch. All the site team are very helpful and friendly with local knowledge. The nearby canal is ideal for walking or cycling with Devizes and Melksham within easy reach. The large field for ball games was a good meeting place for older ones as well a family game of rounders. We were greeted every morning by the friendly robin who also came into the awning looking crumbs. The rabbits also seemed very tame. We enjoyed visits to:- Stonehenge, The RN Fleet Air Arm Museum, Cheddar Gorge, Sandbanks and the interesting Canal Museum in Devizes. The Bell Inn has a varied menu and the service was very good despite it being a busy evening and 10 in our party. Their take away fish and chips were also good value. We would certainly recommend this site and would visit again.
