A lovely campsite located on a canal with a number of attractions nearby.

Our Devizes Club campsite is a lovely quiet and secluded retreat by the side of the Avon and Kennet Canal in the heart of Wiltshire. The surrounding countryside, ideal for walkers and cyclists, is where you’ll find some of the UK’s most significant prehistoric sites including the iconic Stonehenge and Avebury Stone circle.

This well-kept, tree-lined campsite provides 90 pitches, some lined by hedging to give a more private feel. In addition to the amenity blocks, campers can expect a children’s play area and playing field and a large dog field.

You can walk or cycle into Devizes from the campsite via the spectacular Caen Hill flight of 29 locks or catch a bus from the stop a five minute walk from site. Buses also operate to Melksham, Bath and Bristol from here.

This bustling historic town has weekly general and collectors' markets and a regular farmers' market. Wadworth's Brewery is here. See its famous shire horses make deliveries in town. Sample the ales at the visitor centre where tours of the brewery and stables can be booked. Also in the town is the Wiltshire Heritage Museum where you'll find Britain’s best Bronze Age archaeology collections. The Kennet and Avon Canal Trust Museum alongside the canal is where you’ll discover the fascinating story of this delightful waterway.

Further afield Longleat and its 900 acres of parkland is a great family day out.

However, very disappointed that cars were being parked on the grass between vans and not in front of the vans as on previous visits. This (1) limited the grass area between vans (some guests had a nice grassed area and parked their car on the next vans pitch (2) damaged the grassed areas and (3) made it difficult to cut the grass. This is the only negative. The site is well situated for Devizes, Bath and surrounding areas. Warm welcome received by the team and overall an excellent site.

We had a lovely few days camping at the Devizes Club site and will definitely return. The wardens were friendly and helpful and we found the site and facilities very clean. The very good Three Magpies pub is only two minute's walk from the site or take a very pleasant forty minute walk along the canal towpath and you will find The Barge pub which is also recommended. Stonehenge and Avebury stone circles are an enjoyable drive away through the beautiful Wiltshire countryside and well worth visiting.

Wardens helpful and friendly, site and facilities very clean and well kept, though showers could do with a bit of an update. Linda says there is only one hair drier in ladies shower. Good level pitches. Large dog exercise area. Large field for children to play in and a nice climbing frame for younger children. 3 Magpies pub close to site - we had two good meals at what we thought were decent prices. Good bus service from end of lane to Devizes and Bath.

we arrived to a warm and friendly welcome.

we arrived to a warm and friendly welcome. staff were very helpful and we were able to choose our plot. My husband fished from the tow-path and the ticket was available from the shop. A couple of niggles, although it is a family site the children were constantly skating around the park and screaming , and do you really need to cut the grass on a Saturday and the hedges on a Sunday morning ? I know they need to be done but surely its quieter in the week. Other wise perfect !
