Perfect Yorkshire break in outstanding countryside Stayed for two nights. Lovely pitches nicely set out. Owners were very nice and helpful. The site has everything you need showers, toilets and electric. If you are looking for peace and tranquillity , its here. Silsden has every thing you need for supplies and there are plenty of public footpaths to have a walk and take in the fantastic views. Its also a great base for exploring the beautiful dales.

Good, friendly but could be improved.

This review is for Lower Heights Farm

Good, friendly but could be improved. Stayed on this site for just one night and the owner was pleasant and helpful (giving us some milk to save a trip into town) and we enjoyed excellent weather with a cooling breeze as it is a hilltop site with excellent views. Narrow lanes to access the site but we managed well only having to reverse once to allow a hard working farmer on his tractor with silage/hay loaded trailer to pass. The facilities are adequate but disappointingly there was no hot water in the 3 toilets though they were relatively clean and the one shower is 50p token accessible only, for 5 minutes. Electric hook-up was I'm told, 5 loaded, and would be read upon my departure and charged accordingly though because we departed after only one night and having paid for two this was waived for us. This is a working farm with beef cattle and calves in the next field, chickens & cockerel around the fringes and a friendly sheep dog and overlooking a buttercup meadow from all pitches. At a cost of 12 per night it would be good value with a little TLC. Downsides:- The site is set between two rows of overhead power cables though this did not seem to affect TV reception for the few minutes that we watched it. The electric hookups are fine but it would be wise to number the pitches so as to allow campers to spread themselves safely and still have access to a hook-up point. The hardstandings could benefit from a topping of finer gauge chippings than the large roadstone used. Upsides:- Pleasant and helpful owner. Toilet facilities are roomy but during our stay lacked hot water. Grass pitches were mown and cleared of cuttings. Recycling facilities. Caravan storage facility. Well away from roads so safer for children.
