Fantastic setting. So secluded and quiet when we went.

Fantastic setting. So secluded and quiet when we went. Sue and Malcolm are lovely! Elec tripped out a few times, but it was no trouble to them to help out. Site IMMACULATE as were the showers/facilities. Not a scrap of rubbish anywhere and everything sparkling. The site is deep into a forest setting so offers seclusion and peace! SO many local walks, we need to go back with our dogs to try some more. Fab dog walking area. Lovely pub in Lodsworth dog friendly we even had a meal in the dining area with the Mutts. Fab food and a good pint! Petworth a pretty place to amble around, cracking tea shops and cream teas to scoff. Midhurst the major town to get your supplies and go and see the amazing derelict building I can't remember the name of. Free to walk up to and around plus a place to walk the dogs. Also Cowdry Park near by a good walk or picnic if weather kind. Google places to see around these areas as there is plenty to do for the keen walker or easy ambler. All in all, two days was simply not enough in this delightful place. Already planning a long visit when they re open. Only downside (well it may be for some) dreadful mbile reception, no 3G or 4G. Wifi can be purchased but I find it irritating that I have to pay to email work I have completed whilst away on holiday/on a break. However a sensible person would not work!! Couldn't let family know we had arrived ok by text, so had to buzz. Thought text had gone, but due to bad signal it hadn't and I didn't check. So be aware. Oh and on a Friday eve the fish and chip van visits. Very nice but very expensive! About 7.50 for large cod and chips each. A lot for a family of 4. We shared in the end because I refuse to pay 15 for a take away. All I can say is thankfully I wasn't that hungry! Wouldn't call large 'large'! Neither of us are big eaters so being fair I think. But great quality and freshly cooked. All in all a lot to pack in to just two days so a return visit is in the planning!

A beautifully laid out site with private 'rooms' set in amongst the trees.

A beautifully laid out site with private 'rooms' set in amongst the trees. A lovely ferned forest floor with numerous walks among the trees. The facilities were impressive and kept scrupulously clean. Petworth House, my reason for visiting this area, was four miles away and a very pleasant cycle ride through the mainly forested area. My only criticisms are a small shop with very limited supplies and poor site WiFi coverage. I did find a MiFi signal but my device had to be placed high up on a distant post. I would advise anyone bringing a MiFi to ask for a pitch towards the top of the hill. All in all, though, an excellent site and I was rather reluctant to leave after only two days. I would certainly camp there again when next in the area.

Lovely site with secluded pitches in the woods, clean and well equipped facilities, very friendly staff and helpful. Having two dogs we found the woodland walks and paths suited us and lots of paths to the local villages. the area has lots of interesting towns and villages to visit with good local produce available. If there is one thing some might find not to there liking it is very dark around the sight at night with only a small light next to the toilets, for me this was a plus point. All in all it is a great site that i will visit often.
