Overview

A tranquil campsite retreat in the Midlands.

If you want a get away from it all break but not be too far from civilization our Clent Hills Club campsite is a great option. Its location in a peaceful valley, less than a mile from the beautiful Clent Hills, makes this a truly relaxing site, yet the city of Birmingham is less than 15 miles away with Halesowen and Kidderminster even closer.

This spacious site enjoys a peaceful ambience and pleasant views across the surrounding countryside. The Clent Hills, less than a mile from the campsite, are a popular haunt for walkers with miles of footpaths and stunning panoramic views of the Cotswolds, Welsh Borders and Shropshire Hills. The National Trust’s programme of guided walks and suggested routes will help you find your way around this rural haven. The 440 acres of woodland and heathland are popular with birdwatchers too.

For shopping, attractions and cultural distractions Birmingham offers the famous Bullring shopping centre, Birmingham Museum and Art gallery the Sea Life Centre and more. Other attractions within driving distance include the Black Country Living Museum, Cadbury World and West Midlands Safari Park.

We have used this site for the past 26 years, as it is our nearest one. The site is very clean, extremely well looked after, and the toilet block is to members expectations. The Holiday Site Managers are always busy, but very friendly and helpful to visitors at all times, and are an asset to the club. If you have any requests, then they go out of their way to try and help you. The new road and hardstandings are an asset, as the grass on the right hand side of the road has always been boggy during and after very bad weather, and this new feature has improved access immensely, besides being able to take many more units who request this facility. We shall continue to use this site for as long as we are able. It is amazing that the urban City of Birmingham and the Black Country is at the rear of the hill, but the still of the night is only broken with the sounds of the wildlife who live around the site. Most nights, you can hear a pin drop, which is not what one would expect. That is why we like it, the peace and quiet away from mass civilisation! Besides, the children are safe, enjoy the playground and are happy with new found mates.

Having visited many Club sites over the past few years we have to rate Clent Hills among the top three, partly because of its beautiful and tranquil setting, but also because of the warm and caring welcome we received. Ron, Jo and their assistants had achieved the almost impossible by grouping our four large tents together on flat pitches, which was important to us as we were staying a whole week. Throughout our stay nothing was too much trouble, and every need or query was met with a friendly and positive response. Beyond the site there are innumerable glorious walks among the surrounding hills and valleys - it's an amazingly scenic and rural area despite being so close to Birmingham. The village Spar sells just about everything you might need, but is complemented by an excellent butcher and a few other shops. The village's Sun Inn is a Marston pub with a huge range of good food at unbelievably low prices - nearly everything is "two for one", so you only pay about half the menu price, which isn't silly to start with. Too many things to do in the area to list here, but National Trust members really shouldn't miss the rock houses at Kinver Edge, or the amazing "Arts & Crafts" period Wightwick Manor. We are missing the calm emerald green of the Clent hills and valleys already!
