Overview

Camping in the grounds of an ancient royal palace in the heart of Scotland.

Scone Palace is described as a breathtakingly beautiful place of power and mystery. It’s also the home of the celebrated Stone of Scone - also known as the Stone of Destiny – and our very own Scone Club campsite. Located in its vast estate, our campsite is a nature lovers’ paradise. Deer, buzzards, owls even ospreys have been spotted here. You might even find yourself sharing your pitch with one of the site’s resident black rabbits.

Our attractive, peaceful tree-line campsite has well-spaced pitches and excellent amenities including spacious showers and separate family and disabled facilities. There is a well-stocked shop with fresh rolls and newspapers delivered daily and a recreation room full of local information.

Scone Palace hosts many events and has amazing grounds, including the Lawns and Pinetum. Show your membership card to receive discounted tickets. Special rates are also available for grandstand tickets at Perth Racecourse next door to the campsite.

As well as some great walks along the river direct from site, sports lovers will be pleased to discover there are five golf courses within five miles of the campsite. There’s an award-winning Blue Flag beach at Broughty Ferry just east of Dundee. This sweeping stretch of golden sand is one of only eight beaches in Scotland to hold the Blue Flag status.

Just two miles from the campsite, the city of Perth has good shopping, a leisure centre and a theatre, while Pitlochry offers a children’s amusement park and Festival Theatre.

Ready Camp is available at this campsite. (Please note that, although we welcome dogs on this site, in the interest of all guests we do not permit pets to stay within the Ready Camp tents).

Worth Noting

Fly fishing (for trout only) is permitted on the River Tay, with permits available from the office. Only one car per pitch during high season and busy periods. Caravan Holiday Homes are available for purhcase.

WiFi

100% coverage cannot be guaranteed due to rural location, weather conditions and changing flora. These can cause variable signal strength. Hotspots are available. Prices.

Eat Local

Strawberries and other fruits are grown locally. Home-made cakes are sold at the Macmillan coffee shop 2.5 miles from the site.

We didn't realise that to reach the site, you have to drive across the path between the stables and the track... When we saw the horses I thought we would be directed out of the racecourse! But no, we were directed to the site (phew).

This is one of our favourite sites as its run well with clean toilets/showers, a hot shower, rural location but minutes away from Perth centre, walks and bike rides from the site and within a short drive. Perth has good shops, swimming pool, cinema, theatre and restaurants. Dunkeld & Pitlochry (also has a great theatre in an amazing location next to the river) close by and The Hermitage just off the A9 near Dunkeld is a great place for a walk. We had a grass pitch and after a heavy downpour I managed to get the caravan stuck, friendly staff helped me on my way with no bother. If you are visiting Scotland from afar then this site offers a good central location with easy access to St Andrews, Inverness, Stirling, Glasgow and Edinburgh. No local shop or pub, but we bring our own and relax on site so not an issue for us. There is a small play park on the site for the kids though Scone Palace gardens and play area is more entertaining for them also Perth has a skate park and play park (not next to each other for sown reason?). Farmers market in Perth was interesting, first Saturday of the month. Family run bike shop JM Richards on George street in Perth are great if you need help with your bike or a new purchase, also on George st is an artisan coffee roaster, very good!! I was dragged round the many charity shops in Perth which my wife tells me are great. We are young outdoor family who like our own space and we will be back to Scone for more!!
