Overview

A tranquil, traditional campsite within the M25 motorway, which has been in the Club's care for more than 90 years.

Our pretty Walton Thames Club campsite ticks all the boxes for campers wishing to experience the hustle and bustle of the capital but camp in the more relaxed setting of the countryside. You would hardly know this leafy green oasis is located within London’s orbital M25 motorway.

The campsite is well laid out and surprisingly tranquil and spacious. There’s an excellent dog walk on site and numerous opportunities for dogs and walkers to stretch their legs off site, including a pleasant riverside walk into Hersham. Look out for the site’s resident parakeets.

Horse riding, golf, Nordic walking and llama trekking are all activities that can be enjoyed within the vicinity of the campsite.

Train stations at nearby Walton on Thames and Hersham make London and its attractions very easily accessible. Family days out not in the capital can be enjoyed at Thorpe Park, Chessington World of Adventures and Legoland theme parks. The popular Hampton Court and Claremont Landscape Garden are close by.

We have been to Walton on several occasions.

This review is for Walton on Thames

We have been to Walton on several occasions. It is handy for 2 major racecourses and Kingston on Thames is not far. Hampton Court is also very close. Walton on Thames has many quality eateries and Sainsburys car park is easy and central. There are long walks along the Thames Towpath. It is easy to get by train into the centre of London too.

It is a very pleasant site to stay at. We were on a large field with units around the edge of the field as the site was nowhere near full, even in August. We had a view looking towards the river. It was a very quiet site apart from the drone occasionally of planes which didnt fly overhead and certainly were not intrusive. We had good television reception and also for my Galaxy Tablet with 3 which I was pleased about as I have the Daily Mail downloaded each day. It took about a quarter of an hour to walk to the bus stop for Walton and Staines, or Kingston in the other direction. We are tight and decided not to pay for the train into London (about a mile to the station) and used our bus passes. We caught the 461 bus to Kingston, then the 85 to Putney Bridge and the 14 to London. The connection buses ran every few minutes and it took about two hours to get to London but we found the journey all right as it is an area we didnt know so it was an interesting ride, especially when we were able to go on the top of a double decker bus. The 461 also stops near Hampton Court Palace which is certainly worth a visit. There are no toilet or shower facilities on the site but we were aware of this when we booked and didnt find it any problem.

I stayed at this site on & off for many weeks whilst refurbishing my boat located locally and bringing my wife and children down many times for some wonderful holidays and easy access to the many attractions ,i.e. Hampton Court Palace, Lego Land, & London by train , the I was working on my boat and combining this with my other passion fishing there are some good fly fishing venues locally I didn't actually do any course fishing in the site river. We left the site for a couple of weeks and I took the family to a site in Dorset I returned after to finish boat the wife and children stayed on and spent many days at the local leisure centre this has really good swimming facilities and sauna at end of swimming pool, my children enjoyed using the rock climbing wall under supervision . This was my first experience of the caravan club the Managers were very friendly and it was a good experience.

You wouldn't believe you were within a stones throw of the M25 on this site as it's so peaceful. The only down side was the rubbish tip behind reception and the very narrow approach road.
