Overview

A tranquil, traditional campsite within the M25 motorway, which has been in the Club's care for more than 90 years.

Please note: Walton On Thames is a Member Only Site.

Our pretty Walton Thames Club campsite ticks all the boxes for campers wishing to experience the hustle and bustle of the capital but camp in the more relaxed setting of the countryside. You would hardly know this leafy green oasis is located within London’s orbital M25 motorway.

The campsite is well laid out and surprisingly tranquil and spacious. There’s an excellent dog walk on site and numerous opportunities for dogs and walkers to stretch their legs off site, including a pleasant riverside walk into Hersham. Look out for the site’s resident parakeets.

Horse riding, golf, Nordic walking and llama trekking are all activities that can be enjoyed within the vicinity of the campsite.

Train stations at nearby Walton on Thames and Hersham make London and its attractions very easily accessible. Family days out not in the capital can be enjoyed at Thorpe Park, Chessington World of Adventures and Legoland theme parks. The popular Hampton Court and Claremont Landscape Garden are close by.

I have stayed on this site several times since July 2015 and I love it. Peter and Tracy, who run the site, have always been very friendly and welcoming. I'm new to camping and they have both helped me enormously on the frequent occasions when I didn't know what I was doing. The site itself, although being on the flight path to and from Heathrow Airport, it is surprisingly tranquil. It is located at the end of a narrow lane and lies on the junction of the River Ember and the River Mole. This, plus its seclusion from urbanisation, gives you the feeling that you're actually in the country. A perfect site if you're a city-dweller who, like me, likes to experience the peace of the country without being far away from the city. Two 2 downsides for me are that it's a good 20 minute walk to the station, with only 2 trains an hour to London, and that the narrow lane leading to the site can be a little scary when walking back in the dark after a late night out in town. Be sure to have a torch. That said, neither of these 2 little things has ever stopped me from always enjoying my stay. Another very important point to consider is that no matter how perfect a site location is and how good its amenities are, both onsite and offsite, they are nothing compared to having friendly, welcoming, helpful and professional site managers. I am so grateful that I came to this site whilst it's being run by Peter and Tracy.

I don't understand the review by the person who said the site is noisy! Don't go over the bank holiday if you want an empty site! We arrived on bank holiday Monday. We were checked in by Tracy who was very welcoming and efficient. Our pitch was close to the river Mole and the only noise we heard were the birds in the trees! The dog walk was trimmed so we didn't have to walk through long grass which was particularly welcome given the heavy rain on Tuesday. The plane noise was minimal and certainly not intrusive. Please don't be put off staying at Walton. It's a pretty and peaceful site with a lovely walk through Moseley Heath and nature reserve. The food at the bell is also very good value and there's a small supermarket within walking distance! We will return!
