    Top site for fishing

Horsley Club Site, near the North Downs. Perfect for fishing, relaxing, walking.

Our tranquil Horsley Club campsite lies just north of the beautiful Surrey Hills, popular for the network of footpaths that criss-cross them, including the long distance North Downs Way.

Horsley is a peaceful campsite tucked away down the end of a quiet lane. Although large, with some 130 pitches, campers are able to sit back and relax here – either watching the abundant wildlife – foxes, deer, rabbits and ducks are all regular visitors - or casting a line into the picturesque Horsley Lake – the campsite’s centre piece. Day fishing is available here.

The campsite has clean, modern facilities. There is a new children’s play area, dog walk and a recreation room.

The Horsley Jubilee Trail, starting at Horsley station, is a nine-mile circular walk taking in woods, historic buildings, great panoramas and a well-earned refreshment stop at a traditional English pub. You can enjoy more views of the area from Newlands Corner, a popular beauty sport in the Surrey Hills, just south of the campsite.

For days out visit the National Trust’s Polsden Lacey, a stunning Edwardian Manor House near Dorking, RHS Garden Wisely the flagship garden of the Royal Horticultural Society, and its huge plant collection, Bocketts Park Farm near Leatherhead and the Brookland Museum - home to Concorde - in Weybridge.

The theme parks Chessington World of Adventure, Legoland and Thorpe Park are all nearby.

Worth Noting

We had a fantastic welcome and one night stay at Horsley, which is easily accessible from London (even North London.) The pitch was easy to pitch on, ground well kept etc. There were plenty of options for electricity (although we go old school with no hook up), we found very friendly neighbours in our field, the staff werevery helpful and the whole site had a lovely atmosphere.

This is a very great site, lovely setting the staff were very helpful & friendly. Only minuses: you can hear the distant din of traffic on A3 & M25 1st thing in morning. Shame no recycling facilities on site. The main shower toilet block closed for 2 hours for cleaning, (Is it not possible to do 1 hour per sex?) There are small alternative showers/toilet by reception. The brown sign showing the lane leading to the site is easy to miss 1st time, faded & vegetation cover so slow down after passing 'West Horsley' village sign coming from A3

We loved every minute of our stay at Horsley and really didn't want to leave.

We loved every minute of our stay at Horsley and really didn't want to leave. From the moment we arrived we felt at home - the welcome was warm, the site was beautiful, as well as spotless and peaceful, and nestled in woodland it had that secluded feel. The local shops are only a few minutes drive away, or around a 20 minute walk, and have a good selection for all of your holiday needs. There is a local station for trips into London or a lovely little drive will bring you to places like Dorking (with its olde worlde feel highstreet - full of antique shops and quaint tea rooms), Arundel (again olde worlde with a beautiful castle and wetlands) or Littlehampton (an old fashioned seaside town, with fantastic fish and chips!) - all of which are worth a visit. The site is also close to attractions like Chessington Zoo, Thorpe Park and Lego Land, if you have kids. If you don't feel like venturing far, then opt to stay on camp and fish. The lake is a decent size and is full of carp up to about 14lb (average size being 3 - 5lb); the lake is also a fantastic place to meet other campers and we found everybody extremely friendly. It wasn't just us who loved this site, George, our dog, gave his approval too. Apart from having a lovely dog walk on site, we happened upon a lovely nature reserve, to the left through the gate, where we could let him have a good run. This site really does have something for everyone and is suitable for all who like tranquility. The staff were discretely attentive and were thoughtful of our needs - siting us on a plot that was away from the playground, as we didn't have children. We can't wait to go back and are looking forward to booking a two week trip next year!

The staff couldn't have been friendlier.

The staff couldn't have been friendlier. Our children loved the play area, the lake, seeing the ducks and the enormous fish. Great to spend a leisurely day on site or use as a base to visit the many nearby points of interest for all ages. Not far to nearest supermarket, just up the A3. The only night time noise which we encountered was caused by three really loud hedgehogs outside our caravan! We will return.
