Relax in the Suffolk countryside

Visitors to Polstead Club campsite can expect to find a thoughtfully laid out campsite, maintained to a high standard. The pitches are generously sized, some are screened by hedges and trees other pitches are in small clusters giving a more secluded feel.

The modern toilet and shower facilities, together with a superb washing up area are centrally located. The site shop is stocked with essentials and younger campers are treated to a small play area.

Its rural location on the edge of a conservation area ensures visitors to our Polstead campsite in Suffolk have plenty to do during their stay. The campsite takes its name from a pretty village just a mile away, which features a large pond separated from the village green by a steep hill. There is an excellent network of paths around the village, some taking in the area’s ancient woodland and county wildlife sites.

The campsite is surrounded by quiet country lanes, ideal for exploration by bike. The Suffolk villages of Kersey, Lavenham – with its stunning guildhall and church - and Boxford are less than ten miles from site.

Constable country, including Flatford Mill and Dedham, is within driving distance, as is Long Melford – home to a number of antique shops and the location for TV’s Lovejoy.

Warm greeting. Very clean shower block with underfloor heating. Site in the middle of Constable countryside and also close to the coast of Suffolk and Essex. We would come back for a week as there is so much to explore.

We loved this site. It has a very natural feel to it with all the shrubs and trees around. The welcome was very friendly and helpful, and we were guided into our pitch which my husband loved as he said he could relax and just follow instructions! Nice pub within easy walking distance. We didn't try the food, although it looked nice, and the bar had a wide variety of beers and wines. Our only gripe about the site is the hardstandings, which are wide at the far end, where you would pitch your awning. However, when the weather is bad (like it was when we were there), this means that you have to walk on grass (ie MUD!) to get to the front of the caravan. It would make more sense if they were wider all the way down. This is a pretty part of the world, and there is lots to see and do. We visited Lavenham, with lots of medieval buildings, and Sudbury, where Thomas Gainsborough used to live. There were lots of birds around on the site, and their singing was a cheery accompaniment to our breakfast!

Site gets a full 5 stars from us! We are a family of 4 with 2 young children, the site is very narrow and tight to get into but we have a huge caravan and didn't struggle. The site is set just off a main road over about 2 acres, and I would say that an awful lot of care and attention has gone into the design and layout. It's broken up in to 4 areas by bushes and shrubs which feels a bit like a garden maze, and each section will house only a few campers, and there is a nice amount of room between pitches. It's the little touches that really make a difference here, such as the picnick tables and the little street lamps at night. The showerscandvfamily room really are outstanding, I don't usually use the site facilities but they were so clean and warm it was quite a luxury! And the family room was great for the kids as it had a standard shower head so I could rinse them off with out full hair washes and get them dressed again with no drama. Use of the washing machine was also pretty handy. I guess the only down side is 1) a bit of road noise which might bother some... But not us 2) concrete instead of shingle so kids can ride their bikes.. We tried the local routes but not really the roads or trails for small kiddies There are a couple if nice pubs near by worth trying and we also tried the local Chinese (15 min drive) called jasmine house, .. I would not recommend it, every thing tasted the same and no prawn crackers ?? There is a shop fault locally called the wine centre which is worth a try, they sell wine, fish, fashion and gifts .. Odd but nice! Got some pretty jewellery and some fancy wine ?? I'm sure there is plenty more to do in the area, but you will defiantly need a car to enjoy it. Good points: showers, free wifi, walk to pub Bad points: No where for bikes, car essential

The attention to detail is what puts this site very high on our return list.

The attention to detail is what puts this site very high on our return list. The walks around the area are good for us as we have four small dogs who love the change in their routine. We came for the new year and it was a change to our usual new years eve celebrations and what a lovely way to see the new year in. Thank you Greg and Karen
