    Top site for beaches

This campsite is just over a mile from the beach and next to Africa Alive wildlife park.

The glorious beaches of the Suffolk coast are just one of the draws for our lovely Kessingland Club campsite which is tucked away behind the former fishing village with which is shares its name.

The campsite is spacious and well presented with level pitches, a family shower room, laundry and disabled facilities as well as a small site shop selling essentials.

The sand/shingle Kessingland Beach, is just a mile and a half from the campsite. This huge expanse of sand and sand hills (seals can be spotted from here) is popular with families. The beach also runs into Benacre nature reserve - famous for bird sightings every spring as migrating birds hit British land fall.

The area around our Kessingland campsite is great for animal lovers – in addition to Benacre you can see 300 species of birds at the RSBP reserve at Minsmere and right next door to the campsite is Africa Alive wildlife park, home to more than 80 species of animals from around Africa. Thrigby Hall Wildlife Gardens near Great Yarmouth has a tiger compound and tree-top walk to view the animals.

Lowestoft has everything you need for a traditional British seaside holiday from Victorian Seafront Gardens, fountains and two piers, plus Blue Flag award winning beaches. The sandy Lowestoft Beach, North Claremont has two piers and a number of cafes and seafront shops. The vast expanse of sand of the Blue Flag Lowestoft Beach, South Claremont makes it the ideal beach for sunbathing and sandcastles. Beach huts can be hired and there is an area with shops.

Head south to the beautiful seaside resort of Southwold. The town’s Museum and Sailor’s Reading Room provide an insight into the towns maritime past. There’s also a boating lake, Adnam’s Brewery is based in the town and head to the seafront to enjoy the award-winning beach, also famous for its colourful beach huts.

Please note: There are no grass-only pitches at this campsite so an additional pitch fee applies. There are also wind turbines near the campsite so you may hear some noise from them.

I stayed at this campsite in august and had the misfortune to be pitched next to the camper who made these comments. The time of day (9.45pm) was irrelevant. Playing a DVD at full volume with the foul language it contained was out of order at any time of day. Quite rightly the staff asked him to cease. It appears that he took umbrage and left the next morning. This is a lovely site, well looked after by charming people who do not deserve these negative comments.

We saw this site years ago when taking our children who were small and the zoo next door was Suffolk wild life park there were no trees or hedges round the site. Boy has it changed all grown up the zoo has a new name Africa Alive with a great deal you show your camp site receipt on your first visit pay a extra 3-00p each you can enter the zoo as many times you like during your visit it is only a couple of hundred yards past the site entrance as they share the same drive which makes finding the site easy to find when driving as you just follow the Africa Alive signs There is a large car boot sale on Sunday mornings with one of the car parks just behind the site although it starts at 7am we did not hear a thing Some mornings we could hear the parrots at feeding time but they were the closest and some times the owls at night well you are in the countryside There is only one toilet block which could be a good walk from the bottom end but I have been on sites when you have longer walks There are two large wind turbines one each side of the site most of the time you can not hear them but we had one day when it was very misty and the swishing noise did make our ears hurt so we did go out to get away from them but that was only one day and they are nothing to do with the club On the whole I would give the site ten out of ten there is plenty to do in the area for families couples or older couples like us.
