    Top site for beaches

This campsite is just over a mile from the beach and next to Africa Alive wildlife park.

The glorious beaches of the Suffolk coast are just one of the draws for our lovely Kessingland Club campsite which is tucked away behind the former fishing village with which is shares its name.

The campsite is spacious and well presented with level pitches, a family shower room, laundry and disabled facilities as well as a small site shop selling essentials.

The sand/shingle Kessingland Beach, is just a mile and a half from the campsite. This huge expanse of sand and sand hills (seals can be spotted from here) is popular with families. The beach also runs into Benacre nature reserve - famous for bird sightings every spring as migrating birds hit British land fall.

The area around our Kessingland campsite is great for animal lovers – in addition to Benacre you can see 300 species of birds at the RSBP reserve at Minsmere and right next door to the campsite is Africa Alive wildlife park, home to more than 80 species of animals from around Africa. Thrigby Hall Wildlife Gardens near Great Yarmouth has a tiger compound and tree-top walk to view the animals.

Lowestoft has everything you need for a traditional British seaside holiday from Victorian Seafront Gardens, fountains and two piers, plus Blue Flag award winning beaches. The sandy Lowestoft Beach, North Claremont has two piers and a number of cafes and seafront shops. The vast expanse of sand of the Blue Flag Lowestoft Beach, South Claremont makes it the ideal beach for sunbathing and sandcastles. Beach huts can be hired and there is an area with shops.

Head south to the beautiful seaside resort of Southwold. The town’s Museum and Sailor’s Reading Room provide an insight into the towns maritime past. There’s also a boating lake, Adnam’s Brewery is based in the town and head to the seafront to enjoy the award-winning beach, also famous for its colourful beach huts.

Please note: There are no grass-only pitches at this campsite so an additional pitch fee applies. There are also wind turbines near the campsite so you may hear some noise from them.

Wind Turbines are Not A problem. TV signal is not good to poor.

Wind Turbines are Not A problem. TV signal is not good to poor. Shower cubicles are large if limited in number. Africa Alive is very good. An all-day attraction good for kids. Our 3 & 1 year old grand kids were very happy there all day. Kessingland Beach is a 30 mins walk and only worthwhile if weather is not bad. Playground on Site is good but limited. Site is easy to find. Just off the A12 with same entrance as the Zoo. Wardens very friendly. Opening hours for the office are rather limited. We found some Visitors somewhat less than responsible, with unsupervised children & deliberate blocking of a toilet disappointing. They were more a danger to themselves (the children) than others. We would return here again, in summer hoping for good weather. The Zoo is worth at least 2 days discovering. The Beach has 1 pub ..... Mixed reviews I would expect . There are lengthy walks along the coast, but this needs good weather. Pitches are level with no problems for tent pegs despite warning of hard ground.

Great location especially if you have children, Africa alive is right next door and our boys loved going there daily! Short drive to the very pretty Southwold with some gorgeous sandy beaches. The Wardens couldn't of been any friendlier if they tried absolutely fantastic with the children and it was very obvious that they took huge pride in the site.Facilities were great and very clean and the addition of family shower room made life with 2 young boys much easier with even a baby bath if required. We will definitely be making a return visit as it is such a lovely spacious quiet site. Don't be put off by the mention of wind turbines close by, they didn't impact on our holiday at all! Just wish the site wasn't 200 miles away as you would definitely be seeing a lot more of us!

We were received very warmly by campsite staff and were offered a number of pitches and help getting onto the pitch. Staff were also helpful and friendly with local information. The site itself is very spacious although I think one caravan was pitched far too close to us. My children enjoyed riding their bikes around the site which is fairly level. The wind turbines did not bother us although they were going gently most of the time. The animal noises were amusing but not loud or intrusive. Facilities are very clean although we found the ladies' showers to be a little on the cool side. Africa Alive is super and if we had not had our Tesco vouchers we would have taken advantage of the campers' offer and gone back. We spent a whole day there, the children (10 and 7) loved it. You really see the animals and the talks are good too. We also enjoyed a boat trip on Oulton Broad as well as other local visits. The beach is only an easy ten-minute bike ride as are other shops and facilities. The Sunday boot fair was immense and the children spent a bit of their pocket money on a few small items. We would not hesitate to use this site again if we decided to return to this part of the country.

As with previous club sites, Kessingland is clean, staff friendly and a pleasant ambience.

As with previous club sites, Kessingland is clean, staff friendly and a pleasant ambience. This is my second visit and even the noise of the wind turbines didn't put me off from returning. The site is conveniently placed near Gt Yarmouth, Gorleston, Caister on Sea and Lowestoft. Lots of things to do - including discount to the neighbouring Africa Alive, should you wish to visit. A nice flat site with hedges / trees surrounding it, making it a sheltered site.
