Overview

Camping by the banks of the picturesque Forth

Surrounded by majestic oak trees and situated right on the banks of the river Forth, Cobeland lets you holiday in the heart of Scotland’s first National Park. This idyllic camping site is set amid the forest and rugged mountains of the Queen Elizabeth Forest Park, which offers a wealth of outdoor activities in a picturesque setting. Those with an adventurous nature will love the opportunities to explore the forest’s many footpaths and cycle paths as well as trying orienteering or going boating or canoeing at one of the nearby Lochs. If you would prefer a more relaxing break - there are plenty of picnic sites, fishing opportunities and walks through the forest where you see some of the Park’s fantastic wildlife including Red Squirrels.

Sat Nav direction advice: Coming from the Glasgow direction only - ignore the first sign for Gartmore Village and carry on along the A81 until they see a second sign for Cobleland/Gartmore on the left.

The bottom field is a lovely place to stay.

This review is for Cobleland - Trossachs

The bottom field is a lovely place to stay. We were allocated a space on the tiered section which looked like an old quarry. It wasnt particularly pretty nor did it have a view. The shower block was individual shower rooms which opened on to the outside. They were a bit chilly to be honest. But spotless. The laundry room was great. The tumble dryer so good no ironing was required, excellent! We took the free taxi to the pub for a meal. Tbh the food wasn't up to much but the atmosphere great and we met some lovely people there, so the food didn't matter in the end.

If you want WiFi and TV etc then go somewhere else.

This review is for Cobleland - Trossachs

If you want WiFi and TV etc then go somewhere else. If you want to experience the great out doors then stay at Cobleland. There are amazing forest walks along the river and beyond. Deer in the forest and otters on the river bank. In other words "Peace, glorious peace". As for there being no provisions in the small reception, well there is a small store in Gartmore and a Coop in Aberfoyle, both within walking distance. The forest is a paradise for kids, dogs and adults alike. Leave the 21st century behind and enjoy what nature has to offer.

Due to the vicinity of the site the weather needs to be good.

This review is for Cobleland - Trossachs

Due to the vicinity of the site the weather needs to be good. It was not and the grass sites become very water loggedLots for little ones to do with the wardens but nothing for older kids, consequently because there was no Wi Fi, or a television signal, even with the satellite dish our grandson was not happy. There is no shop on site, not even basics. Lovely location but I don't think we will be back. We did expect more, that's why we visited with our grandson. Facilities and wardens are top notch but for the price we paid for 6 nights it needs to be better.

Great for families who are looking for a fun site in a lovely setting.

This review is for Cobleland - Trossachs

Great for families who are looking for a fun site in a lovely setting. We camped next to the river but was asked if this was ok when we checked in which I thought was good. The showers and toilets are clean and there are good washing up facilities as well as a clean disposal point. There are recycling containers for everything which is great but by far the best bit about this site is the resident rangers Nicky and Will. For a small fee 3 each we all went on a survival and bush craft walk, then we made magic wands and last night we went on a bat finding walk! My only complaint would be the amount of dog poo around which even my children commented on. Great site, lovely location we will be going back again!
