    Great site for families

Enjoy the thrills of Alton Towers and beautiful Peak District from this Club Site.

The Peak District National Park is right on the doorstep of our Alton, The Star Club campsite. This attractive, well maintained family-friendly site is perfectly placed for Alton Towers theme park – just a mile from site. Similarly those who enjoy heading off into the great outdoors will not be disappointed with some great walking country right on the doorstep.

A bus stop right outside the site will deliver you to Alton Towers and its host of family attractions, ranging from adrenaline-fuelled roller coasters through to gentler rides for little ones, in minutes.

Carsington Water and Visitor Centre, north east of the campsite, offers a wide range of activities for all the family on and off the water including miles of footpaths and bridleways to explore, a children’s play area, fishing and many water sports.

While Stoke-on-Trent may not be an obvious tourist destination you can see the Anglo-Saxon treasures of The Staffordshire Hoard at The Potteries Museum and Art Gallery here. There’s also the Wedgewood Visitor Centre full of artefacts, some dating back to Josiah Wedgewood – the man who started the pottery industry as we know it today.

Self-catering accommodation is available at this campsite.

Lovely, friendly staff. Clean site. We felt safe. Easy access to Alton Towers. Slight noise from vehicles on nearby road, but that didn't spoil it for us.

WOW! what a difference a change of ownership makes...

This review is for Alton, The Star

WOW! what a difference a change of ownership makes... I've been coming to The Star for well over 20 years, but this is my 1st visit since the Club bought it & the difference is incredible. I love the site, but also the surrounding area. I had an absolutely peaceful & tranquil time here & would recommend it to anyone. Yes Alton Towers is nearby, but that is a bonus in most people’s opinions. The Potteries are only a small drive away and well worth a visit. Showers & toilets are absolutely spotless :) 100% impressed! Well done :) My only comment might be that the site is actually on Star Bank, not Star Road LOL…

Wow, wow, wow! What a difference 24 hours can make, after a poor show at our previous site, Alton was an example of how to run a campsite, we arrived later in the day, about 18.15, we were warmly greeted by Cliff who showed us to our pitch and asked if we required any help, we set up, Cliff returned to check we were okay, we had run low on milk, but despite the site shop now being closed, Cliff was more than happy to get us a pint and bring it to us! Outstanding customer service, facitities were superb, a lovely quiet site when we went, but would suspect not as much during school holidays. One of the ladies facilities was closed during our stay, but we did not feel this was a problem in light of the amount of people requiring them.

Site basically services families and groups visiting Alton Towers.

This review is for Alton, The Star

Site basically services families and groups visiting Alton Towers. Playground opens at 8 am (sign says 9 but that was not the case) and is in constant use right through till 9 pm and on a few occasions well beyond by teenagers who had climbed over the gates to get in. Lots of large noisy groups well into the night. Do not choose this site if you want a quiet break! Whole site is on a hill so dont expect level pitching for tents. Could do with more showers and those that there are are small and a bit shabby.

“A group of friends and myself stayed at this site for 3 nights in June 2012. The site were brilliant and accommodating with our requests. The wardens were really friendly and chatty. The self catering caravan we stayed in was immaculate and even blankets were in the wardrobes which was good as the evenings were a little chilly. No complaints about the 'van and within 5 mins drive of Alton Towers (our main reason for the choice of site) As with any other club site, I would not hesitate in recommending this site or returning, I'm already planning a return trip next year!”
