Enjoy the thrills of Alton Towers and beautiful Peak District from this Club Site.

The Peak District National Park is right on the doorstep of our Alton, The Star Club campsite. This attractive, well maintained family-friendly site is perfectly placed for Alton Towers theme park – just a mile from site. Similarly those who enjoy heading off into the great outdoors will not be disappointed with some great walking country right on the doorstep.

A bus stop right outside the site will deliver you to Alton Towers and its host of family attractions, ranging from adrenaline-fuelled roller coasters through to gentler rides for little ones, in minutes.

Carsington Water and Visitor Centre, north east of the campsite, offers a wide range of activities for all the family on and off the water including miles of footpaths and bridleways to explore, a children’s play area, fishing and many water sports.

While Stoke-on-Trent may not be an obvious tourist destination you can see the Anglo-Saxon treasures of The Staffordshire Hoard at The Potteries Museum and Art Gallery here. There’s also the Wedgewood Visitor Centre full of artefacts, some dating back to Josiah Wedgewood – the man who started the pottery industry as we know it today.

Ready Camp is available at this campsite.

This is the first time I have stayed at a club site since being a member, and immediately I could tell the difference between the standards of this site and non-club sites. We loved every minute of it from the moment we arrived. The warm welcome by the reception staff to the friendly chap who guided us to the plot, we knew we'd made a good choice. Not even the rain dampened our spirits! Loved it!

I booked my holiday meaning to go to the Towers, I nearly cancelled my stay due to the recent accident, but the staff persuaded me there was so much more to do and see in a beautiful location and its worth coming just for that. The site is fantastic, so well maintained and clean. Day out No1 visited the newly opened Peaks Zoo just up the road and on the way back, stopped off at the Yew Tree Inn to see its bizarre collection of antiques! Day out No2 the great outdoors, nature reserve walk from the site through the forest, followed the Churnet Valley stream where we found the enchanting fairy (you have to see it to believe it!) into Oakamoor Village, quaint and ancient, then on to the Ramblers Retreat, all in stunning scenery and got the bus back! The rest of the time we relaxed on site which has a great park for the kids. There is so much more we now want to do in the are, so we shall be back. Thanks for the good advice! Mags, Stu and the happy kids!

Only a couple of miles from Alton Towers this large site is great for visiting AT. Very clean site with a lovely pub only a couple of minutes walk away. Some steep and winding approaches from Stoke on the A52 but the site is worth it.

We stayed so that we could visit Alton towers, there is a bus just outside the site which takes you straight there and back so this was perfect for us. We didnt explore the area but would like to next time, there are many walks nearby and the area is beautiful and peaceful. We did eat at the Star inn which I can highly recommend! The site is quiet, clean and has good amenienties, the owners were very friendly too. A note for anyone on foot/public transport, when you get off the bus, dont follow the campsite signs as it leads you up a very busy road with no proper path, instead take the road on the right straight opposite the bus stop, Ramshorn road. Walk up until you find a silver gate on your left, that takes you into the bottom of the campsite then just walk up to the reception cabin from there. Thank you for a wonderful stay, see you next year!!!

“A group of friends and myself stayed at this site for 3 nights in June 2012. The site were brilliant and accommodating with our requests. The wardens were really friendly and chatty. The self catering caravan we stayed in was immaculate and even blankets were in the wardrobes which was good as the evenings were a little chilly. No complaints about the 'van and within 5 mins drive of Alton Towers (our main reason for the choice of site) As with any other club site, I would not hesitate in recommending this site or returning, I'm already planning a return trip next year!”
