Enjoy the thrills of Alton Towers and beautiful Peak District from this Club Site.

The Peak District National Park is right on the doorstep of our Alton, The Star Club campsite. This attractive, well maintained family-friendly site is perfectly placed for Alton Towers theme park – just a mile from site. Similarly those who enjoy heading off into the great outdoors will not be disappointed with some great walking country right on the doorstep.

A bus stop right outside the site will deliver you to Alton Towers and its host of family attractions, ranging from adrenaline-fuelled roller coasters through to gentler rides for little ones, in minutes.

Carsington Water and Visitor Centre, north east of the campsite, offers a wide range of activities for all the family on and off the water including miles of footpaths and bridleways to explore, a children’s play area, fishing and many water sports.

While Stoke-on-Trent may not be an obvious tourist destination you can see the Anglo-Saxon treasures of The Staffordshire Hoard at The Potteries Museum and Art Gallery here. There’s also the Wedgewood Visitor Centre full of artefacts, some dating back to Josiah Wedgewood – the man who started the pottery industry as we know it today.

Ready Camp is available at this campsite. (Please note that, although we welcome dogs on this site, in the interest of all guests we do not permit pets to stay within the Ready Camp tents).

Self-catering accommodation is available at this campsite.

Site was fine for what we wanted (out all day at Alton Towers).

Site was fine for what we wanted (out all day at Alton Towers). However, it can be quite a walk to the toilet blocks (especially when the grass is wet and muddy and you have to go the long way round!). Also, some of the hard standing pitches are accessed by a very narrow road and these pitches are not very big. We have a twin axle caravan and only just managed to get our caravan onto our pitch (number 23) not only due to the size of the pitch but also the close proximity to other pitches and because of how narrow the road is. Lovely play area for younger children.

We stayed at this site for 2 nights to visit Alton Towers.

This review is for Alton, The Star

We stayed at this site for 2 nights to visit Alton Towers. The approach road is narrow, we came from the north. The reception was very friendly and informative. There was a small shop within reception and plenty of leaflets. We were shown to our pitch by one of the staff. The pitch was very large and level hardstanding with water electric and waste point on it. The pitch was divided by a hedge and had spectacular views. There were also undivided hard standings and grass pitches. There was 2 toilet shower blocks the smaller of which was closed. The toilets and showers were very clean. There were only 2 showers in the mens which seemed not enough for a site this size. The showers had no curtain or divided which meant you had to leave your clothes and shoes outsize or they would get wet, they were push button type 15 seconds duration. We used the excellent bus service to visit Alton Towers. There is a large well appointed play area on site which closes an hour before sunset. The site is very well laid out with trees and bushes and is very quiet. We would certainly stay here again if visiting Alton Towers. It is strongly advisable not to take a Motorhome from the site to Alton Towers as the road is very narrow. Take the bus as we did.

Great place! Rob checked us in, showed us all the bits and pieces we needed on the way to our pitch. Didn't see him or his missus without a tool in their hands for the next 2 days! The place is immaculate. We just rested up on the site and took a couple of walks through the woods. Beautiful surrounding countryside, rabbits everywhere. We will definitely be back soon. Thanks folks.

The site is close to Alton Towers.

The site is close to Alton Towers. There is a small wildlife park 4 miles from the site with a lovely play area for children. 5 minutes walk from the site is the Star pub serving a good choice of food. The Towns of Leek and Asbourne are short drives away.

“A group of friends and myself stayed at this site for 3 nights in June 2012. The site were brilliant and accommodating with our requests. The wardens were really friendly and chatty. The self catering caravan we stayed in was immaculate and even blankets were in the wardrobes which was good as the evenings were a little chilly. No complaints about the 'van and within 5 mins drive of Alton Towers (our main reason for the choice of site) As with any other club site, I would not hesitate in recommending this site or returning, I'm already planning a return trip next year!”
