Tranquillity close to the heart of England on a campsite in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

This Club campsite sits on the edge of one the Midlands’ most popular beauty spots, Cannock Chase. A combination of natural deciduous woodland, coniferous plantations and open heathland the Chase – England’s smallest Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty – offers boundless adventure and fun for walkers, mountain bikers and dog lovers alike and is perfectly located for exploring the attractions of Cannock, Lichfield, Birmingham and the surrounding area.

Our pretty campsite here is well laid out and bordered by trees. It offers level hardstanding pitches, while grass pitches tend to be sloping. In addition to showers and toilets, the site offers washing up facilities, a site shop offering basic provisions and a family room and there is direct access from the site onto the Chase.

The Chase is definitely the big appeal of this site. As well as its bountiful wildlife, it offers endless walking and miles of exhilarating mountain bike trails, including the famous Follow the Dog trail and new Monkey Trail, which start from Birches Valley Forest Centre.

Worth Noting

Some pitches are sloping and chocks will be needed. Poor TV and mobile reception on site.

The wardens are all very friendly and helpful.

This review is for Cannock Chase

The wardens are all very friendly and helpful. As we arrived one of the campers was telling them that he had forgotten to pack his kettle and the warden them let him borrow hers. We were shown to our pitch and helped to back in. It is a very popular site and was almost full when we got there on Friday evening, so there was no choice as to where to pitch, but looking around there doesn't appear to be a bad pitch among them. We had a hardstanding and didn't need levelling although some of the units needed ramps. If you were using a tent some of the grassy areas are sloping. The gated access directly onto the Chase was a bonus for us with the dog, although the walk across the road from the site to Castle Ring is just as convenient with the added bonus of a dog friendly pub the Park Gate Inn at the end. It serves Sunday lunch but you would do well to book as we missed out. The facilities are spotless and whilst we were there they were installing a bike wash just off the entrance car park. I'm sure there will be a few dog owners using it too. There is a children's play area to one side of the site and the Birches Valley Visitor centre is a short drive away with it's "Go Ape" treetop trail. We have already recommended this site to friends and will be returning ourselves in future.

This review is for Cannock Chase

Me and my husband stayed for a weekend break and after reading some of the previous reviews were a little apprehensive. The site is in a beautiful location with good clean amenities and a good layout with a sensible and safe one way system. There is a gateway on the site leading directly onto Cannock Chase for amazing walks and is great for dog owners. We were made to feel very welcome and the wardens were helpful and friendly. There is a good play area for the children. Ball games are prohibited due to the hilly layout of the site making it likely that stray balls may hit some of the units and totally justifying the wardens rules. However there are so many activities to do in the surrounding area such as the amazing Birch Valley forest centre which is a few minute drive away and is also reachable on foot via the footpaths, this forest centre alone has enough activities to keep a family with children going for a week. We will definitely be returning to this site in the near future.

First visit was not a member of caravan and camping club and was not made welcome.

First visit was not a member of caravan and camping club and was not made welcome. We flagged by warden to our pitch it was like a overflow car park all on our own no grass all gravel and long weeds around the edges. There were plenty of other nice pitches when we arrived and the following days so why we're we put there? Think I was because we weren't a member was thinking of joining but won't be now
