We have just got home from 3 nights at Beaver Hall over Feb Half Term.

This review is for Beaver Hall Equestrian Centre

We have just got home from 3 nights at Beaver Hall over Feb Half Term. We arrived on Sunday when a gymkhana was in full swing, the yard was busy but Skip came straight out to meet us and give us our pitch. Great hard standings but lots of chocks required for the front of the van. Had a lovely scone in the cafe while watching the end of the gymkhana. The toilet and shower are accessed through the children's farm, strange experience passing the Meerkats in your PJs en route to the shower! The shower/toilet is clean however the room is unheated which is most unpleasant in Feb and my kids refused to have a shower there unfortunately. It unfortunately means that getting dry is very difficult as the room is generally very damp I am sure a small heater would make all the difference. If somebody is using the toilet and sink next door (it's used by all visitors to the farm) the shower also turns freezing not pleasant when the room is freezing too. Would be best to have showers early morning or late evening when the visitors have left. A real shame because it's an excellent site. The onsite saddlery sells some lovely designer ladies clothes. Kids pony rides are done up and down the campsite, it's lovely seeing the kids riding the tiny ponies past your front window. Also beware of the very large pot holes on the drive and in the yard leading up to the campsite. We will be back again in warmer weather or when we have a caravan with a better shower!

We visited the last weekend in July with our two young children. We were delighted with the price £8 per night for a tent no electric hook up; children under 10 are not charged for. The toilets and showers were in a temporary building but were very clean and well maintained. There was plenty going on in the equestrian centre so plenty of horses to point at and sheep and cows in near by fields. We also observed some stoats playing in the field, which was delightful. There is a cafe on site, which we didn't go to but looked lovely. Nearby Leek is a lovely market town with lots of gift shops and cafes. There is a nature reserve just down the road from the campsite and a steam train that runs from the other side of Leek.

Friendly and helpful owners and Skip was always cheerful, site is cleen and peaceful, hardstandings overlooking paddocks and hills. Wildlife on site hares, curlews, hestrel and barn owl. July 2012 was the wettest on record but on this aite it was not a problem. If you want a lazy day there are often equestrian events to watch, cafe open on site. A very good farm butchers at Ipstone, loads of places to visit whatever the weather.

The site is clean and well maintained.

The site is clean and well maintained. 5 hard standing pitches with electric hookups and shared water supply. Nothing was too much trouble for the site owners. We used the site since it was close to Alton Towers - easily reached in approximately 10 minutes. The town of Leek is approximately 5 minutes drive and has a good selection of local stores and national chains. We will definitely use the site again.
