The site itself is on a fairly steep slope and not so good if you have any mobility issues and situated towards the bottom of the site. The children's area was a bit of a disappointment in as much as its a field beyond the dog walking field with nothing for the children to clamber about on or swing on, Its a field with nothing in it. The wardens are a real asset to the site, Very friendly and quick to offer advice or assistance when we needed it. The drive to the beach is about 10 minutes through multiple roundabouts and duel carriageways but after one or two journeys we got used to the racetrack mentality of some drivers. Parking in Weston super mare isn't so good. There are few/no concessions for disabled drivers and unless your prepared to park in the streets well away from the seafront then everyone has to pay what seems to me a substantial amount whenever you visit, that may seem picky of me but when you have children with you the added cost of daily parking adds up very quickly. The bonus is of course the fantastic beach, The kids loved it and spent hours flying kites and splashing about in the sea and so despite the few niggles (which in the great scheme of things aren't so important) we had a fantastic 4 days break.

We arrived with our two granddaughters for a 4 night break. Access to the site was easy until the road leading to the site (Laneys Drove) which had 4/5 sleeping policeman very close together. There is also a height restriction barrier and a gate to negotiate before you are on the site. The site has a mix of very steep slope pitches and at the bottom level sites. The Reception office carries a small product range of essentials which was very useful when we ran out of milk. There is a dog walking field and next to that a field for games which slopes but no facilities for younger children, such as a swing or slide. The toilets/showers were very clean and the site was well looked after. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

I was delighted with our stay at Weston-super-Mare.

I was delighted with our stay at Weston-super-Mare. Despite advanced warning about noise from nearby building works, there was no disturbance at all during our stay. In fact the site was very tranquil and relaxing, with the only loud sounds coming from horses and ducks in the field and stream beyond the site. As we were camping without electricity, we had a free choice of pitches in the non-serviced area. We chose to be partly shaded but there were open sunny pitches too. The site is compact so all the pitches are within easy reach of the amenities block. Having read comments about the amenities being 'dated' and cubicles 'small' I had low expectations. However, I was very pleasantly surprised as they were neither as far as I could tell. Showers/toilets/sinks were spotlessly clean too. In terms of other facilities, I am of the opinion that 'less is more' and so give the site 5 stars for this. There is a lovely field for kite flying etc which my son enjoyed playing in. Finally I thought the welcome from the warden, Peter, was excellent. He had a huge queue of new arrivals to check in and took time to be pleasant to everyone. He was also a reassuring and friendly presence on site throughout our stay.

About 2 weeks before arriving, as we booked very early, i was called to be told that there was a building site very nearby, and it could get noisy throughout the day, after being assured that there would be no problems at night, i was satisfied and thankful for the heads up. This was not true, all throughout the night, all myself, Wife and child could hear was machinery which was not what i was told!!! i didn't bother complaining as staff were hard to find. The facilities were clean but very basic, if you like to wash clothes while caravanning away, this is not the site for you, stuff can get a bit dirty from the beach and sea in weston. Staff did leave some info on the whereabouts of a launderette near the site. We did have a 5 year old with us, this site is not really for children as it has no little park or anything, just a field which is ok for bigger kids. All the hardstanding pitches are at the bottom of a slope, which is a chore to visit the facilities at the top of the slop. As you drive up to the site, there is a road which has the silliest and pointless set of speed bumps which make the entrance so much harder to get to, Also, The site has a wooden gate, which is a pain to keep getting out to open, back in to drive through, then back out to close, it is the 21st century, let's have an electric entrance. Apart from that, The site itself is clean, quite well maintained. There is a new pub opened just up the road called the Landing Light, which is very nice for a family lunch or dinner, the food is very nice and worth a visit or 2 whilst here. Driving into Weston S M is easy and takes between 5 - 10 mins depending on traffic (i recommend heading toward the south beach for parking on the beach itself). Not the worst site I've ever stayed on as it is a nice quiet little site, but i may make a return in about 20-30 years time..... Without Children.
