We chose this site to break our appalling motorway journey from Manchester to Brixham and it...

This review is for Quantock View

We chose this site to break our appalling motorway journey from Manchester to Brixham and it proved to be a brilliant choice. It's a little haven of peace and tranquility just under the Quantocks with quite extensive views but surrounded by small bushes and trees with cider apples, beehives and a quirky but spotless toilet/washbowl shed equipped with guides, maps and a neat stack of towels. Martin's approach to life could best be described as incredibly laid-back and very amiable and within minutes of arriving the trials of the M6 and M5 were fast disappearing. There is walking, running and cycling if you feel energetic, or strolling and relaxing if you don't. The local pub is a 20-minute walk away, has a very friendly landlord and some excellent beer but appears to be primarily an eating establishment with a good but expensive-ish menu. As we were only there for a night we obviously couldn't do the area justice but it's a delightful site and next time we're down that way we're determined to stay for considerably longer.

The owners couldn't have been friendlier or the site more secluded.

The owners couldn't have been friendlier or the site more secluded. The steam railway is well worth taking .and ther rover ticket allows a choice stops and the slower speed is nostalgic of times past. We will certainly return to this gem of a site.

We looked the site up on our sat nav poi and found it ok.

We looked the site up on our sat nav poi and found it ok. There was no one around so called the owners who were very friendly and helpful folk. We ended up staying a second night so we could have acrelaxing day with a short walk to the next village along quiet lanes and visited the bird in hand pub for a great meal in their beer garden. Facilities on site were good for this kind of site and we were charged just 9 per night. I would recommend it for a short break if you want to get away from it all or to use as a base for nearby Exmoor.

Excellent level field on the edge of the Quantock hills (near view) with far reaching views...

Excellent level field on the edge of the Quantock hills (near view) with far reaching views the other way to the Blackdowns. It's just possible to see a smidgen of Exmoor in a third direction. Very quiet and peaceful. A loo and basin have been installed since we first visited and with waste disposal and drinking water this site has everything we could possibly want. One of the loveliest sites we have stayed on and we keep coming back. Good walking country and good farm shop nearby. Friendly owner.
