Overview

  • A popular site for couples

    Great site for couples

Our site is on the edge of the village of Priddy, the highest in the Mendips.

Our gorgeous Cheddar Club Site is set in the heart of the beautiful Mendip Hills, an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It's an ideal base to explore the area for walking, cycling, caving and rock climbing activities.

The well laid out site has excellent shower and toilet facilities, including a family room, plus a laundry and a well-stocked licensed shop selling local produce. Special rates are available for backpackers arriving on foot or by bike. There are two well-equipped holiday caravans for hire, each sleeping up to six people.

You can walk to the village or Priddy where you'll find a popular pub serving food just 3/4 mile from the site and the Priddy Good Farm Shop, selling a range of locally produced meats and home-made pies. Priddy also hosts a popular folk festival in July and other events throughout the year. There are also many other pubs and restaurants in the local area.

There are many attractions in Somerset and the surrounding area including Cheddar Gorge, Wookey Hole, Glastonbury, Longleat Safari Park and the cities of Bath and Wells are waiting to be explored.

Cheddar currently holds an AA 4 Pennant Award.

If you fancy leaving the unit behind, consider a hassle free break in one of our two holiday caravans. Our self-catering options sleep 4-6 people and have all the creature comforts of home. For more information check out our self catering pages Read More

Worth Noting

The site is 45 minutes towing time from M4 Junction 18 and M5 Junction 23. Not all pitches are flat and chocks are advised. There is no on-site dog walk, but there is a local footpath near the main gate. Please note that there may be sheep, cattle or horses in the fields, and your dog must be kept on a lead. The footpaths may become very muddy during wet weather, so stout shoes or wellingtons are recommended.

WiFi

WiFi is available at this site. However please note the service is supplied by a different provider therefore your Site WiFi card (powered by WiComs) cannot be used. Please contact the site direct for more information.

Eat Local

Site shop stocks locally-produced preserves, pork, beef, chicken, eggs, cider and ales. Bread and pastries baked on site. A farm butcher is next door and village pubs serve local produce. Farmers’ Market is held in Wells on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

This review is for Cheddar Mendip Heights

True the site is too compact for an on site dog walk, but that is not a problem. I am in my 70's and had no problem with the essential offsite morning and evening exercise, and the road is so quiet that there is no problem with just doing a road walk. I was camping alone and was having some difficulty packing my tent down on my final day. I am so grateful for the help so willingly offered and given, by the member of staff, a truly nice person, with a friendly Northern character. I am afraid I cannot recall your name, but you know who I mean - and thank you so much. A lovely compact, but not crowded, site, in a stunning location. The site is high up in the Mendips, but is not unduly exposed, during my stay I endured strong winds and some pretty wet weather with no problems whatsoever. Strongly recommended to anybody.

V rural site being an excellent venue for walking Cheddar area. Site is clean, well organised and uncluttered. Staff are all helpful and friendly. Although no dog walk on site there are many dog walks in the area. Variety of welcoming pubs with quality, good value food. Limited activities for children. Perhaps better for couples.

We had a great weekend stay here visiting cheddar gorge, Wells and exploring walks near the campsite. The shop onsite had everything we needed and there is a farm shop and pub within walking distance. I cannot recommend this site enough. We will be back next year!

“Had a wonderful 4 days at this lovely site. Bakery on site so had fresh croissants and pain au chocolat for final day breakfast. Also tried the local pub for great food, beer and cider and a short walk home to walk it off! Highly recommended.”
