I read the reviews before booking and everything lived up to my expectations.

This review is for Cheddar Mendip Heights

I read the reviews before booking and everything lived up to my expectations. There is just a county lane to the site and it was very quiet but with a few agricultural vehicles in the daytime. There were mostly couples of all ages on site and a few with dogs. You do need to be able to level your caravan as most pitches, even hardstandings, have a slight slope. There were some bricks available. Some of the grass pitches in the top field do slope a lot but people found good spots. Toilet block was kept very clean and the showers are excellent with lots of room and no horrible curtains or buttons which keep turning the water off. The site was quite busy with caravans, motorhomes and tents but I never had to queue for a shower. Staff were very friendly and you can buy cheaper tickets on site for Cheddar Gorge. Wells is about 4 miles away and has a good Saturday Market and many good shops. Easy to park at Waitrose in the town as you can claim some or all of your parking fee back on shopping. There are two static caravans on site so you can holiday with your friends/family who don't camp. Make sure you follow the directions provided to get to the site and don't end up going up through Cheddar Gorge - its a bit steep and narrow in places for towing. Note that there is only a short entrance to the site so you could end up queuing on the road whilst you wait for the new vehicles to be moved onto their pitch. This is a franchise site so if you have an annual C&CC Wifi subscription you will still need to buy a new one on site as I understand the C&CC do not allow the owners access to their Wifi. Do mention if you have annual cover as I was allowed a discount on the site owners Wifi. I saw the most wonderful starry nights so all in all it was a great base to tour such a beautiful area and I would go back like a shot!

we booked to stay on 15 & 16 August on our way to Cornwall; we new we were going to be there after 8pm and advised the site who waited for us and showed us to our pitch. The staff are very helpful and polite. We then went to Cornwall and were on a site that packed units with no regard to space limits, we were so fed up of the facilities on this site we called to see if we could book them from the 28 August and stayed untill 31 August. The showers and toilets were spotlessly clean and the water hot. the bread from the shop in the morning was wonderful and sometimes still warm! The access to Wookey Hole and Cheddar Gorge is fantastic. The area is beautiful. Our son enjoyed the park area and dog area is as it says a dog area for them to do what they have to do. Thank you for a wonderful holiday.

We had a pleasant stay at Cheddar Mendip Heights.

This review is for Cheddar Mendip Heights

We had a pleasant stay at Cheddar Mendip Heights. This was part of a longer touring holiday and unfortunately, I struggled to agree with the glowing reviews. So many people can't be wrong though so it must be a case of personal preference I guess. The toilets/showers were well cleaned but the contained my campsite nightmare.... a mop and bucket. I don't understand why some sites still use these. The mop sits in stale water all day and ends up smelling, then hair just gets caught up in the mop (in the ladies showers), the result is dirty water and matted hair being dragged around the floor when you're trying to leave it clean. The squeegy type things are much more hygenic. We booked a pitch with an awning but the pitch we were given did not have enough room for our awning (it's not particularly big). It had a steep grass 2 foot ledge at the side which meant we couldn't even edge onto the grass with it. In fairness, they may have moved us on request but we had set up before we realised that this was going to be a problem and by this point, my hubby wasn't going to faff about moving again. As I say, pleasant enough but not blown away by any means.

“Had a wonderful 4 days at this lovely site. Bakery on site so had fresh croissants and pain au chocolat for final day breakfast. Also tried the local pub for great food, beer and cider and a short walk home to walk it off! Highly recommended.”
