Overview

  • A popular site for couples

    Great site for couples

Our site is on the edge of the village of Priddy, the highest in the Mendips.

Our gorgeous Cheddar Club Site is set in the heart of the beautiful Mendip Hills, an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It's an ideal base to explore the area for walking, cycling, caving and rock climbing activities.

The well laid out site has excellent shower and toilet facilities, including a family room, plus a laundry and a well-stocked licensed shop selling local produce. Special rates are available for backpackers arriving on foot or by bike. There are two well-equipped holiday caravans for hire, each sleeping up to six people.

You can walk to the village or Priddy where you'll find a popular pub serving food just 3/4 mile from the site and the Priddy Good Farm Shop, selling a range of locally produced meats and home-made pies. Priddy also hosts a popular folk festival in July and other events throughout the year. There are also many other pubs and restaurants in the local area.

There are many attractions in Somerset and the surrounding area including Cheddar Gorge, Wookey Hole, Glastonbury, Longleat Safari Park and the cities of Bath and Wells are waiting to be explored.

Cheddar currently holds an AA 4 Pennant Award.

If you fancy leaving the unit behind, consider a hassle free break in one of our two holiday caravans. Our self-catering options sleep 4-6 people and have all the creature comforts of home. For more information check out our self catering pages Read More

Worth Noting

The site is 45 minutes towing time from M4 Junction 18 and M5 Junction 23. Not all pitches are flat and chocks are advised. There is no on-site dog walk, but there is a local footpath near the main gate. Please note that there may be sheep, cattle or horses in the fields, and your dog must be kept on a lead. The footpaths may become very muddy during wet weather, so stout shoes or wellingtons are recommended.

WiFi

WiFi is available at this site. However please note the service is supplied by a different provider therefore your Site WiFi card (powered by WiComs) cannot be used. Please contact the site direct for more information.

Eat Local

Site shop stocks locally-produced preserves, pork, beef, chicken, eggs, cider and ales. Bread and pastries baked on site. A farm butcher is next door and village pubs serve local produce. Farmers’ Market is held in Wells on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Wouldn't recommend this site for older dog lovers as no area set aside for dog walk.

This review is for Cheddar Mendip Heights

Wouldn't recommend this site for older dog lovers as no area set aside for dog walk. Nearest reasonable walk some 200 metres up road off site. Ruling no dogs allowed to urinate on site a bit strange. Pitches were tight for van and awning. Well stocked shop, fresh bakes available to order. Convenient for the gorge. Wouldn't use again.

The onsite shop was excellent. The ability to order pastries being a highlight.

The onsite shop was excellent. The ability to order pastries being a highlight. The facilities we used (washing up, chemical disposal, water) were fine. Our grass pitch with hookup was muddy with a slope in both planes and was only just big enough for the van + awning! Luckily we had large ramps and plenty of blocks to level the van. Due to the slope the entrance to the van was much higher than normal making entry/exit difficult. Would not return.

Lovely site with very friendly and helpful staff.

Lovely site with very friendly and helpful staff. Amazing pastries cooked on site for breakfast. A well stocked shop which is needed as the site is quite remote, although local pub and farm shop are within walking distance. Facilities are cleaned every day and kept very well. It was peak season which meant that the site was very full. This was the only downside in that the pitches are quite close together in rows so there was very limited space outside of the tent (maybe 6 foot). It also meant that our tent was pitched right next to gravel path which was noisy when used by cars and campers walking past during the evening to use the bathroom. Some of the tent pitches are on a slope too which meant some rolling off the airbed in the night! The site felt very secure with an entrance barrier opened with a code. Lovely area surrounded by fields of cattle and horses with good walks for dogs. Would highly recommend the site and we look forward to visiting again at a quieter time of year.

“Had a wonderful 4 days at this lovely site. Bakery on site so had fresh croissants and pain au chocolat for final day breakfast. Also tried the local pub for great food, beer and cider and a short walk home to walk it off! Highly recommended.”
