Overview

This is a Certificated Site (CS). These select sites are small, privately run campsites that operates under the Club’s jurisdiction and can only accommodate up to 5 caravans or motorhomes and up to 10 trailer tents or tents, unless express permission has been given by the Club to accommodate more. They range from secluded Hideaways to fully facilitated family friendly sites, and are often found in locations where larger commercial sites are prohibited so you could be camping close to a beach or in the National Park, for example.

We are a small farm, 85 acres, 200 sheep and 120 beef cattle, pigs and horses. 10mins from J22 M5, our 2.5 acre site is nestled in a quiet spot with fantastic views. There is a footpath to the top of the Mendip Hills, the river Axe for fishing and canoeing, and a fishing lake next door (£10 day ticket). We sell our own farm reared pork sausages and free range eggs. Separate ladies and gents toilets, power shower, hook ups and hard standing. Dogs welcome. Families and couples only. No large groups. No noise policy between 11pm and 7am. The excellent Lamb PH is a 5 minute walk. Weston Super Mare and Burnham on sea are just 20mins drive. Cheddar’s scenic Gorge and Caves, shops and a large Sunday morning boot sale 10mins drive. Wookey Hole Caves, the Cathedral City of Wells, and Glastonbury Tor and Abbey Ruins.

We visited Watersmeet on our way to Devon and were very pleased to have made this choice.

We visited Watersmeet on our way to Devon and were very pleased to have made this choice. The first thing to note is the excellent reception we received from the owner - we were made to feel very much at home. The views from the site were absolutely gorgeous and as we were in a motorhome and the grass was a bit soft we were placed on hardstanding. The washblock was rustic looking on the outside but this belied the cleanliness and high level of maintenance on the inside - very impressive. This is one site we heartily recommend.

Despite wet and windy weather we enjoyed our stay on this farm site.

Despite wet and windy weather we enjoyed our stay on this farm site. The local pub, The Lamb, only 5 minutes walk away, served good beer and food at reasonable prices. Grass on site was cut regularly and toilets and shower very clean. Free range eggs and lovely pork sausages available from Kathryn.

This was our first ever outing in our new caravan which we'd just picked up.

This was our first ever outing in our new caravan which we'd just picked up. Kathryn was very helpful on booking when I explained we were beginners, ensuring we had a level and easy site to get into. Lovely level site with large grass area and some hard standing, and beautiful views over the countryside. Easy access off main road but no traffic noise as entry via farm track. Kathryn very friendly and helpful throughout visit. Facilities basic but very clean and perfectly adequate, shower surprisingly good. Overall a good 1st experience, would definately visit again. (Recommend a visit to Clevedon pier)

Woke to the dawn chorus on dawn chorus morning of a bank holiday weekend.

This review is for Watersmeet Farm

Woke to the dawn chorus on dawn chorus morning of a bank holiday weekend. A most delightful small campsite - very convenient to access but rural and with picturesque views of the hills. Flat, well cared for field with sheltered spots by the hedges or electrical hook-ups on the other side of the field. Cows, sheep and horses in the fields around. Launching access on the Axe and stunning views of the Mendips. You can only just hear the road noise which is surprising considering how near and convenient the roads are. Any road noise was drowned out by the dawn chorus! Facilities were a clean unit with 2 loos per sex and a superb hot clean shower - takes pound coins but 2x 20ps were enough to recover from long cycle rides round the Mendips, Cheddar and Quantocks. Sad to leave in the evening when other campers were sitting round their fire baskets ( logs available from friendly hosts). Would certainly book again and recommend to anyone wanting to camp in the area or stop off on the way to Cornwall
