Look out to sea from our campsite on this Somerset hillside.

Our Minehead Club campsite lies just outside the stunning Exmoor National Park, close to the beaches of the Exmoor Heritage Coast and a mile-and-a-half from the Minehead, Somerset’s largest seaside resort.

Not only does this campsite enjoy a prime coastal location in a peaceful setting, its views over-looking the Bristol channel, woodland and the town are second to none. A spacious site, Minehead has 60 pitches including some serviced pitches and good central site facilities.

There are lovely walks from the site including a lovely wooded walk into Minehead centre. Minehead is also the starting point for the South West Coast Path, a long-distance trail that follows the coast to Poole. The town is also the terminus of the West Somerset Steam Railway, which travels through 20 miles of stunning coastal and countryside scenery.

South of the campsite, Wimbleball Reservoir offers sailing, canoeing and wind surfing – launch your own craft or hire from the lake’s activity centre. Anglers have been known to catch rainbow trout here. You can fish from the banks or hire a boat. There is nine-mile walking and cycling track around the lake too.

To find out more about Exmoor National Park, there’s a visitor centre at Dunster. The medieval town is also home to a castle and a working water mill.

Access and SatNav Advice

Although access to the Site from Minehead town centre (as shown on map) is very steep and twisting, we do not advise any other route as alternative lane is too narrow. Please Do Not Use SatNav please follow map directions ONLY.

Worth Noting

We have just come back from 4 nights here and both want to book again. Very friendly helpful welcome by the site manager. We had a lovely pitch it was very large for our tent. The electric hookup had no problem, it does sometimes on other sites we have stayed at. This site is very peaceful, clean, friendly and a great base for walkers. Its a 25 minute slow walk down through a lovely path through woodland - all down hill leading to the church. The scenery is stunning and we loved every minute of our stay. The shower block was basic and spotless. Showers were hot and the little shop on site is very useful and not overpriced. There is a little van that visits approx 9.30am daily and peeps to announce arrival. I think he has fresh things like bread eggs milk. Also newspapers. We never used him but it may be useful for other visitors. Excellent club site.

I have visited Minehead for many years towing a caravan so this site has been "off limits", Having recently acquired a camper-van I chose this site. It is very a very peaceful site in a beautiful part of Minehead. The staff are very helpful and pleasant. My only reservation is that it would been good if the site handbook could be re-worded to say that most grass pitches are sloping and ramps are advised for camper-vans and motor-homes. It is a great area for walking "cliff top paths, woodlands, wide open spaces etc. All in all an excellent site see you again soon.

We know the area well having a chalet on Dunster Beach and decided to spend a few nights at the campsite while our daughters and their cousin commandeered the chalet. We have driven past the gate hundreds of times without realising what a gem of a site is tucked away on the side of North Hill. The wardens were really friendly, chatty and informative when we arrived and made sure that we had a suitable place for our slightly unconventional demountable camper. The site and facilities are very well kept and spotless and we are already planning our return to the site the next time ur family are staying inthe chalet. There is so much to do in the area with fantastic walks starting from the campsite. An evening walk revealed everything from rabbits to ponies and even deer and North Hill is a bird spotters paradise. There is something to interest everyone without having to travel far. The area is cycle friendly (except the steep hill to the campsite), plus plenty of walking, pony trekking, sea fishing and the steam railway are just a few of the things on offer. One simple highlight of our stay was that the site is far enough from the town for there to be very little light polution so there was some fantastic star gazing (especially the Milky Way) but, unfortunately, I had forgotten to take my good camera.

The location has a perfect view of Minehead, and the walks around the sight are very beautiful, especially the Moors. We love to hear the ponies trotting up and down the walkways on the Moor early in the morning whilst tucked up in our campervan. The road to the sight was hilly and narrow, but it was still accessible with slow careful driving. This is one of our favourite sights the atmosphere is always relaxed and friendly we have made some lovely people during our visits. When we have to pack up to go home, we never want to leave. We look forward to going back this year before the winter sets in.
