Lovely little site.

This review is for Kingsettle Campsite

Lovely little site. There are only basic amenities (loo and hot shower) but they are new, clean and nice. The pitches (about 10) are big and each one has an exciting fire pit. There's also a football net and netball hoops, and outdoor chairs you can use. Jenny the owner visits regularly from next door and you can buy a firepit pack (logs, kindling, firelighter, paper, skewers & 8 marshmallows!) for 7. It's fantastic being able to have a fire there, as it's quite high up so you get great views over the countryside too. It's very quiet with only a few cars/tractors going past on the main road, which is single track. The pub (Bull Inn) is about a 10 min walk and is also lovely and dog-friendly. And its a 45 min round trip walk up to King Alfred's Tower (part of Stourhead Gardens) apparently, but we didnt make it... We found it a little bit tricky to find as phone reception/satellite isnt great there either, so do check beforehand. We would definitely go again.

This is a great campsite.

This review is for Kingsettle Campsite

This is a great campsite. Each pitch is equipped with a fire pit and for a few quid the owner will bring you a firebox. The pit is a shallow depression when you can light a fire. The box contains logs, kindling, fire lighter, matches and even some marshmallows. So then you are totally equipped to light an open fire and spend the evening sitting around it. Most campsites prohibit open fires and even a tame barbecue can be frowned on. So this is a real breath of fresh air, well smoky air, if you enjoy sitting around a proper fire as the sun sets. Not to be missed especially if you have never tried this before. A fire is captivating, you can cook on it, keeps you warm and also drives the midges away. Perfect way to finish a day. The site is fairly level, extraordinarily quiet and has nice views. Dog friendly with plenty of space for walking. The owner is very friendly and helpful. At the top of the nearby hill is a tower which is worth a visit and some pleasant woods.
