Get away from it all at this peaceful, no-frills campsite in the Shropshire countryside.

The peaceful setting of our Ebury Club campsite is the perfect base from which to explore the local countryside, towns and villages of Shropshire.

The area is steeped in history. In fact, pitch up at Ebury Hill and you’ll be camping on a little piece of history – nearly 3,000 years ago the area was an Iron Age hill fort.

Today the site provides a peaceful haven for campers and an abundance of local wildlife including squirrels, badgers, rabbits and birds. The campsite is split over two levels and boasts an attractive fishing lake stocked with carp, perch, roach and tench. And walkers will appreciate the many walks through fields and woods from the site.

Shropshire is steeped in history. To find out about the area’s historic past a trip to Ironbridge Gorge is a must. Blessed with not just a beautiful setting, this is an UNESCO World Heritage List site and a monument to the Industrial revolution. Ten award-winning museums bring the Victorian era to life through its many interactive exhibits and displays.

One of the country’s largest Roman settlements at Wroxeter is another place where you can step back in time or how about a trip on the Severn Valley Railway? Steam-hauled trains run between Bridgenorth and Kidderminster.

Other popular attractions include the RAF Museum at Cosford and Telford with its many shops and leisure options.

Please note, because of restrictions relating to the historical significance of this campsite, it has no toilet or showers (other than a toilet for backpackers only, see Worth Noting), so you will need suitable facilities in your unit.

Now with the price increase last year, especially with the extra charge on the hard standings, we find it too expensive to use. We find that we can get better value elsewhere with private sites offering much better value for less money. The Ebury Hill Site is charging more in site fees without improving the site itself. Many of our friends who we met over the years at this site, said they are not returning to this site for the same reason. l,m sorry it has come to this, because we really like this site.

This is a lovely secluded site in a former quarry set on 3 levels.

This review is for Ebury Hill

This is a lovely secluded site in a former quarry set on 3 levels. The top level is mainly hardstanding, the middle level is all grass and benefits from having a children's play area with soft safety mats, the bottom level is again mainly hardstanding with a few grass pitches in the centre. Also on this level there is a lake. From the middle level it is possible to walk around the lake and through the woods, which at this time were covered in English bluebells just coming into flower. The wood and the path are for the exclusive use of campers. The site itself has limited facilities, there being no wash or toilet block, but has facilities to allow you to dispose of toilet and grey water. The site is well managed and very clean and it is obvious that the site management are proud of it. Like last year it was not as full as I expected considering it was 1/2 term holiday and this may be due to the pricing structure which is quite expensive for a limited facility site. However having said all that we love the site and will certainly visit again later in the year.It is easy to visit plenty of attractions and Shrewsbury can be accessed easily but I would recommend using the park and ride which runs on a frequent basis from just alongside Tesco.

A very peaceful site, surrounded by lovely countryside, with views all around.

A very peaceful site, surrounded by lovely countryside, with views all around. Brilliant dog walk all round the perimeter of the site, from which to enjoy the views. Friendly wardens, very quiet, most of the time the only noise to be heard was the birdsong. We had a lovely stay, and hope to be back again in the not too distant future. Ten out of ten once again to the Camping & Caravanning Club.

A great site very well located for walking, we have been here many times.

A great site very well located for walking, we have been here many times. The complete lack of facilities does not bother us as we always use our own. Unfortunately we may have to think twice about visiting Ebury because the new rates are far too high.
