    Make a great escape to the historic and peaceful Shropshire countryside with a stay at Ebury Hill Club Site. This rural site is located just outside of the town of Shrewsbury, yet retains a sense of peaceful nature thanks to an on-site lake and many tree-lined pitches.

     

    Camping through time

    This area is filled with fascinating history, no more so than the site itself, which was an Iron Age fort some 3,000 years ago. The campsite is on two levels, and a large fishing lake can be used by campers with a rod licence. There’s also a designated dog walk, motorhome service point, and dishwashing facilities. The historic nature of the site means there are no toilets and showers.

     

    Historic hills

    One of the most interesting attractions close to Ebury Hill is the UNESCO World Heritage Site Ironbridge Gorge. This stunning gorge and iconic bridge are also home to many museums recounting the Industrial Revolution and Victorian Britain. For hikers, the stunning Shropshire hills lie a short drive to the south, with famous peaks such as the Stiperstones and Brown Clee Hill waiting to be conquered. Nearby Shrewsbury makes for a great day out and is home to great restaurants, a fantastic food market, and cosy pubs.

    		These are super service hard standing pitches with electric hook-up, fresh water and waste drainage, suitable for those looking for a little more luxury whilst they camp.

     

    Worth noting

    • Because of restrictions relating to the historical significance of this campsite, it has no toilet or showers (other than a toilet for backpackers). You will need suitable facilities in your unit.
    • Fishing is available with an Environment Agency rod licence

    Haughmond Abbey

    Take a gentle stroll around the ruins of an Augustinian abbey in the serene Shropshire countryside. The surviving 12th and 14 century abbots' quarters, refectory and cloister provide shadows ideal for picnicking in during the summer.

    Battlefield Falconry Centre

    Visit the Battlefield Falconry Centre and learn about their wide variety of birds. They also offer experiences such as Hawk Walk, Bird Handling, Birds of Prey and the Half Day, where you'll be given the falconers' glove and encourage to handle all the birds.

    Wroxeter Roman Villa

    Wroxeter Roman City is home to Britain's first authentic Roman villa, dating back over 1600 years. It was the subject of a Channel 4 TV documentary about experimental archaeology.

    Hawkstone Park Follies

    Built over 200 years ago, the Follies are historic woodlands featuring cliffs, crags, caves, forests and a series of extraordinary monuments. The rugged sandstone cliffs make for a dramatic landscape.
