Fantastic, welcoming site particularly for those new to caravanning.

This review is for Oswestry, Cranberry Moss

Fantastic, welcoming site particularly for those new to caravanning. The site is very easy to find with no nasty lanes to negotiate and a warm friendly greeting from Alan & Peter, who are both really knowledgeable and only too happy to help or give advice. The site has everything you'd expect and is spotlessly clean. Shrewsbury is well worth a visit, the town is a mixture of old and new and full of interesting nooks and crannies to explore. Don't miss the Quarry Park by the river and a walk around the flower garden in the Dingle while you're there.

Stayed here for 6 nights in July, having pre booked 2 adjoining pitches as we had friends joining us the next day. Only 2 pitches left when we arrived and both were not really suitable for a 24ft caravan + awning! Plus were on opposite sides of the park. So had to pick alternative pitches the following morning as people left which Alan (the warden) was most helpful with, but did mean we had to set up twice, which is not what you need when on holiday. So did not put up awning. Overall site condition is fair & with a small amount of minor maintenance and TLC this could be a very impressive club site. Location is good, facilities reasonable, but have recently stayed on a non club site with far higher standards inc a full service pitch & at a cheaper rate (CCC please note). Some pitches are under trees and have been cut into the banks so are not very large or flat so sitting outside can be a problem. Club pictures did not give that impression. Hot water was a problem whilst we were there & many complained that showers were cold, but malfunctions do happen from time to time! Grey waste and chemical toilet disposal was adequate but the hoses were either too short & or split, again minor TLC. The toilet blocks were adequate, with the exception of a non working hand dryer in the ladies which had been replaced with a single hand towel which was constantly wet & not very hygienic. Dead flies in the light shades was also not pleasant. Other campers were very friendly but some did wander across other peoples pitches (even between car & caravan) which was somewhat intrusive, but there is little the wardens can do about this. The one way system was vague & some ignored the speed limit resulting in kicking up dust & stones as they sped through. Would we return possibly, it is by no means the worst site we have stayed on, but we have stayed on better.

This was our first stay on a Camping and Caravanning Club Site.

This review is for Oswestry, Cranberry Moss

This was our first stay on a Camping and Caravanning Club Site. Have to say we were hugely impressed by everything. The welcome from the wardens was first class and we were allowed to choose our pitch in the sunshine. The site is nice and open and really gets the benefit when the sun shines and the grounds are immaculately maintained. We have stayed on sites throughout Europe and have to say that the toilets and showers are among the best and cleanest we have seen. The site was pretty busy but quiet, just the way we like it. We didn't use but had a look into the recreation room, which looks great for rallies and other people who want to get together or for those seeking respite from sun or rain. We were told that they put on events in there and Christmas/New Year are popular, so we might give that a try. With the weather being good we stayed on site but there is a bus service from outside the site to Shrewsbury, which is great for leaving the motorhome where it is. We never thought we were "Club" people but this has changed our mind and we will be joining and we will be back to Oswestry.
