Arrived on a rainy Friday night and the staff were at reception awaiting our arrival.

Arrived on a rainy Friday night and the staff were at reception awaiting our arrival. Very friendly welcome. We were led to our pitch (we had a choice of pitches and the site warden advised us on each one) and set up in the rain. It wasn't long before we were sitting down in our tent. It was reassuring to see site warden return to check we were ok. The next day the weather improved and we walked around the site; we relaxed by the loch shore. Beautiful location with stunning views. We walked into Luss with our 4 year old boy (the village is a short walk; take care with the kids as you pass by busy road) and enjoyed lunch at The Village Rest. Lovely field views outside, great food (it was expensive but we acknowledged the surroundings made it worth it) friendly staff. We wandered down to the pier and scenic beach before heading back to the site. The camp-site is bigger than it looks with a wide variety of pitches. Some will be put off by the busy road nearby it can be noisy throughout the day. It is a small price to pay for this brilliant site. Kids play park is limited (but there is plenty to do around the site) and the shower rooms need an update. Overall I would recommend this camp site to all groups. We are a small family and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, We will be back!

This site is indeed one of the jewels in the crown of the Club. It has something for everyone.

This site is indeed one of the jewels in the crown of the Club. It has something for everyone. Sailing, canoeing etc. hill walking, cycling (there is a cycling track which runs along almost the entire length of the loch) all directly from the site. If activity is not your bag then you too are well catered for. The scenery from the site is spectacular, looking onto Ben Lomond over the most beautiful loch in Scotland. The site is next to the village of Luss, which for those of us old enough to remember, is where Take the High Road was made. It has bars and 2 hotels, all of which serve good food. None of these establishments are particularly old and maybe lack in atmosphere. The Lodge on the Loch which is next to the site offers views of the loch from the bar. Be warned though Luss is the ultimate tourist fly trap and all eateries charge like the Light Brigade. If a short drive is the order of the day leave Luss and turn right onto the A82 heading for Tarbet. There is a park here where you can catch the Loch Cruise boats. The Tarbet Hotel is , primarily, a bus tour hotel which needs some money spent on it, in my opinion. Much better to carry onto the A83 over to Arrochar where there a couple of gems for a bite to eat. On coming down the hill into Arrochar at the Arrochar Hotel (same type of establishment as Tarbet Hotel) turn hard left onto the A814 and follow this until you come to the Village Inn. On a nice day you can eat outside on the front lawns overlooking Loch Long. On not so nice days instead of turning at the Arrochar Hotel carry on into the village. There is a pub on your left,( I think the Ben Arthur) named after a popular mountain for hill walkers. They serve decent pub grub reasonably priced. Don't eat in the bar. Go through to the lounge at the rear which looks over the loch. Luss site itself needs money spent on it. It has has had drainage problems for many years which surely could be put right for once and for all during the winter shut down.

Really enjoyed the night we stayed at Luss. Beautiful views across Loch Lomond and very peaceful. Site managers very helpful, thank you Tony for the lend of the chairs! Facilities very clean, only two showers but didn't cause any problems. Basic provisions available at reception. The village of Luss is a pleasant short walk away where there is a shop and a pub. The food at the Bistro 'The Village Rest' is outstanding well worth a visit!
