Overview

This is a Certificated Site (CS). These select sites are small, privately run campsites that operates under the Club’s jurisdiction and can only accommodate up to 5 caravans or motorhomes and up to 10 trailer tents or tents, unless express permission has been given by the Club to accommodate more. They range from secluded Hideaways to fully facilitated family friendly sites, and are often found in locations where larger commercial sites are prohibited so you could be camping close to a beach or in the National Park, for example.
Whilst the majority of Certificated Sites do permit children, please be aware that this site has chosen to be Adults Only.

Open 7 March to 30 September. Certificated Site of the Year 2012. The site is located off the Manton to Edith Weston road on the south shore of Rutland Water. Situated adjacent to the popular cycle route around the reservoir (17 miles, or 23 if you take in the peninsular), the site also offers panoramic views across the water. An ideal place for bird watching as Osprey can often be seen in spring/summer, and a short walk to the Nature Reserve with its wealth of information in the visitor centre. The two acre site is all grass and level. There are no toilets or showers on site but chemical toilet disposal point, mains water and electric hookup are all available. Members also have access to a further three acres or pasture for dog exercising or other forms of recreation. A viewing platform is also available to enhance views over the reservoir. There are public footpaths nearby. The Horse and Jockey pub in Manton village, about a mile away offers excellent ales and good quality pub food at reasonable prices. Nearby attractions include fishing, sailing, rock climbing, ‘cycle hire walking and birdwatching’.

First time staying here and will be coming back again, brilliant site, friendly welcome, site well spread out, a fantastic weekend stay. The site was immaculately clean and Brian gave us a very warm welcome, he supplied us with details of local attractions and his a most charming man. There is also an information hut on site with info on things going on and attractions locally. The site was very peaceful despite it being pretty busy. There is a viewing platform on site that gives you panoramic views of Rutland Water, and is a nice place to sit and watch the sunset. Just down the road is Lyndon Nature reserve, well worth a visit just to see the Ospreys and their young alone. If you can bring your bikes do so as there are plenty of routes to go on.First time on this site but have marked it down as one to come back to again in the future. 5 stars for site cleanliness and welcome, 4 stars for site amenities.

Still the best by far! I took my girlfriend and her sister to stay here in April. I towed the caravan and they traveled separately as I was not staying. My clutch failed a mile from the site and Brian came out to see if I was OK whilst I waited for the AA. The kind AA man towed my van to the site to that my girlfriend and her sister could enjoy their break. Any way its our second visit here and Brian is a most friendly and helpful gent. The site is still the best by far we have visited for location, views and being keep immaculately. You will have to book as its very popular. Cant praise Brian or the Paddock enough.

Absolutely brilliant it does what it says on the tin!!!! Thanks to Brian for a gem of a site, only stayed 3 nights but will be back again and hopefully for longer. Immaculatley kept and Brian was informative about the wildlife on the site, the Barn Owl and Little Owl, we also saw a Kestrel sat on the entrance sign and a fox passing through one evening The site is ideal for exploring Rutland Water and the surrounding area.

Excellent well kept site with beautiful views over rutland water, and minutes from the circular bike trail. Well maintained site with beautiful country views and rutland water. Had a lovely relaxing week, with plenty of walks for the dogs. We were told the site was full and yet everybody had lots of space. We almost had one side of the park to ourselves. Brian was extremely helpful but completely intrusive unless you needed his help. Would highly recommend the site A*****
