Overview

This is a Certificated Site (CS). These select sites are small, privately run campsites that operates under the Club’s jurisdiction and can only accommodate up to 5 caravans or motorhomes and up to 10 trailer tents or tents, unless express permission has been given by the Club to accommodate more. They range from secluded Hideaways to fully facilitated family friendly sites, and are often found in locations where larger commercial sites are prohibited so you could be camping close to a beach or in the National Park, for example.
Whilst the majority of Certificated Sites do permit children, please be aware that this site has chosen to be Adults Only.

Open 1st March – 30 September Certificated Site of the Year 2012. The site is located off the Manton to Edith Weston road on the south shore of Rutland Water. Situated adjacent to the popular cycle route around the reservoir (17 miles, or 23 if you take in the peninsular) the site also offers panoramic views across the water. An ideal place for bird watchers as Osprey can often be seen in the spring/summer, and a short walk to the Nature Reserve with its wealth of information in the visitor centre. The two acre level site has electricity, but no toilets or shower facilities. Members also have access to a further 3 acres of pasture land for dog exercising or other forms of recreation. There are also public footpaths nearby. The Horse and Jockey public house in nearby Manton village, offers an excellent pint and good quality pub grub. Nearby attractions also include fishing, sailing, rock climbing, cycle hire, waking and bird watching. A round the water bus route, introduced in 2012, passes within 200 yards of the site with a stop at that point, (pensioner’s passes accepted). This gives access to Oakham and Uppingham with further public transport connections.

Highly recommended, this lovely quiet site overlooks Rutland Water.

This review is for The Paddock

Highly recommended, this lovely quiet site overlooks Rutland Water. Brian is the most friendly warden, giving us a warm welcome with a copy of Rutland Visitor Guide. The site is spacious, well kept and clean, with water & electric points. Ideal for walking, cycling, near nature reserves and sailing club.

The site was large and well maintained, the pitches were of a very good size and privacy- except for where we were put - into a corner with another unit, hence we did not have the privacy or space of the other pitches. As the price was quite high for a CS this clouded our enjoyment of the experience and we felt like the poor relations, especially as other units came and went on the bigger pitches. It was also busier than what we have come to enjoy on a CS and one night there were 10 units there. Having said that the location and ease of travel are good and I am sure that it is enjoyed by the favoured. We however will not return.

Beautifully kept site; views over Rutland Water. No toilets or showers.

Beautifully kept site; views over Rutland Water. No toilets or showers. Easy towing, level site and very friendly welcome. Easy walk to Rutland Water. We walked to the Lyndon nature reserve (you might catch site of an Osprey), then took the path part way round the water. Walking distance to the garden centre and golf club. We had an excellent meal at the Horse & Jockey about a mile away. Second night we had a curry delivered to our caravan from Indian Cottage in Uppingham which was excellent. However the Monday curry night at the Horse & Jockey was even better. Brian is an excellent host and we look forward to returning.

Fantastic location, fantastic site! We have just got back from a two night stay and to say the welcome we received was superb is an understatement. The owner was helpful and very, very friendly. The site is spotless and the pitches are very spacious. If you like cycling the cycle route round Rutland water is right outside the gate. And if you like walking you can't go wrong. One of the nature reserves is just at the bottom of the hill where you can see live footage of the Ospreys. Wonderful location.
