Overview

This is a Certificated Site (CS). These select sites are small, privately run campsites that operates under the Club’s jurisdiction and can only accommodate up to 5 caravans or motorhomes and up to 10 trailer tents or tents, unless express permission has been given by the Club to accommodate more. They range from secluded Hideaways to fully facilitated family friendly sites, and are often found in locations where larger commercial sites are prohibited so you could be camping close to a beach or in the National Park, for example.

The site at Doliago is great for tents as it is on level ground. There is a stream right beside the field and the views make it a most relaxing place to stay. It is the first year the campsite has been open so, for some visitors, the facilities may seem limited. It does have a Ty Bach: toilet which is slightly grander than the one you might have found on a farm in days gone by. Doliago is a working farm - lambing, dipping, calving and harvesting - there is always something going on. From the Campsite you can walk straight out onto the open hills of the Cambrian Mountains. The Elan Valley is close by and the market town of Rhayader has plenty to offer - places to eat and drink, as well as bike hire, galleries, museum and leisure centre.

Fabulous site if you like off-grid/hideaway sites, this is for you, basic facility's, but who needs more when you got the views Spent 3 days at this lovely site, if you like off-grid/hideaway sites, this is for you. basic facility's, Loo, CDP and water, no Hook Up but we knew that before we booked so not a problem, the Site is level with easy access. Liz is a friendly/bubbly person who also volunteers at the local museum, you must go, it is a lovely insight to the local area. On the 1st night we had clear a sky, all I can say is "Wow" the stars were fantastic, well earned as a area of "Dark Sky" If you want a stress free time, just sit back and watch the lambs :-) we will be back :-)

We had a fabulous 3 day (we were allowed to stay on as long as we wanted on the last day), 2 night stay helped, of course, by lovely weather. Good local walks including one into Rhayader over a suspension bridge. Yes there was no normal shower (a home brew solar version was available) but we knew that in advance so why on earth would we complain. The chemical toilet was immaculate and cleaner than most flushing ones we have come across. The grass was slightly long but we much prefer this to a manicured approach. We were able to have our off ground fire bowl which kept midges at bay but we really don't think they would have been a problem on normal breezy day/nights. We will have no hesitation in visiting again. Well done for creating a well cared for, inexpensive, friendly and delightful site and all this in what is only a recent venture.

this must be one of the best CS sites we have ever stayed on,if you want a beautiful setting and a real working farm experience then you should visit this site, the owners were so friendly and made us so welcome we almost felt like family in the short time we were there, the camping field was right in the farm area so you could really see all the animals ,it was a busy lambing time when we were here which was great fun to watch ,the surounding area was great to visit as there is so much to see and do, great for walking and cycling, there is a bus stop close to the site which is a real bonus if you want to travel further afield without moving your unit, we hired a fire pit at a small cost from Liz and had 2 lovely evenings under the stars with the warmth of the fire, we certainly will be visiting there again, thanks liz for making our stay so nice, terry and julie

Doliago Farm is peaceful and quiet, it is ringed by the Cambrian Mountains, close to the beautiful River Wye. A little brook runs behind the camping field and sheep graze peacefully nearby. We came for two nights and stayed for seven and every evening the sunlight on the hills and the dramatic clouds were a sight to see! Liz, the owner, is friendly and accommodating - we were invited to watch the sheep shearing which took place while we were there. The campsite has been thoughtfully designed, the recycling facility and CDP are neatly tucked away behind a fence next to the 'Ty Bach' - a little wooden shed which has been beautifully decorated on the inside and is equipped with a basin and tap and a chemical toilet. If you love walking, the 'Llanwrthwl Horseshoe' passes right through the farm, so you can start and finish at the campsite and the nearby Elan Valley reservoirs provide the backdrop for many beautiful walks - ask the very helpful staff at the Elan Valley visitor centre for details. The nearest town, Rhayader, has plenty of interesting little shops and places to eat. We really enjoyed our stay at Doliago Farm and will be back in the not too distant future!
