Lovely, friendly site that has recently changed ownership.

This review is for Kelpie Tents

Lovely, friendly site that has recently changed ownership. Kieran (son of new owners) is the manager of the site & is very friendly, approachable & helpful. You need 'chocks' if staying in a motor home/caravan. Don't be put of by the 'porta loo's' and shower as these are clean and you get used to them. The kitchen area isn't under cover & has no hot water so you need to take a kettle. The site has an ordering service for bacon, eggs, potatoes & fresh on site baked bread which all taste great...we sampled them. The surrounding area is quiet and peaceful. Site is all grass, each pitches & each has it's own water supply, this site is the ONLY one we have been too that the electric DIDNT trip for the entire stay ( a big plus) .The beach is literally slow 10min walk down a lovely wooded path or quiet country road. The beach is clean, has toilets & ice cream van, also dog friendly. Loads of local clubs use it for boogie/surf boarding, but there isn't a life guard at the beach. Loads for kids to do & you can get leaflets from Kieran. Also a 10 min walk is a 'Tardis' of a local shop/post office, it literally sells everything you would ever need & a few things you don't! Also there's a pub (dog friendly) that serves great value meals and well priced ale, also has a lovely beer garden. There's a lovely caf (dog friendly in garden area) that sells cooked meals & so on. The Castle also sells food & is dog friendly. Over all we had a great stay, Kieran has plans for new toilets/showers and kitchen area in time. Well worth a visit and we will definitely be returning.

We have just returned from a stay at Kelpie and have to say a big thank you to Kieran and Amanda for a lovely, relaxing time there. The site does slope but there are plenty spaces to find a level pitch, each with EHU and drinking water. The site is very well maintained, lovely mown grass with a small natural space for wildlife in the middle and benches to relax on around the site. As others have said, it's within an easy walk of Manorbier, which has a castle and bay/beach as well as the best stocked local Londis shop and PO I have ever seen. There is also a small cafe, pub which serves food and a hotel which also does food. Manorbier is a quiet (out of school holiday season) village, within a short drive of Tenby and other lovely beaches.....Freashwater East is especially lovely with easy access. The owners of the site, Kieran and Amanda are the nicest and most helpful I have ever met on any site, anywhere. And as an extra bonus Kieran bakes delicious bread you can order the day before. He also sells delicious local bacon and will be soon selling their own eggs, which I'm told will be blue! So that's breakfast sorted then. We felt as though we genuinely were welcome, not only to the site but to the area as well and the owners are knowledgeable and can suggest lovely places to visit while you are there. I've never before had a campsite owner come round the site to check with everyone that they are ok. The loos and shower of the portaloo type but are immaculately clean and well maintained and are due to be replaced by next year. The shower is hot and plentiful and free. The site is dog friendly and you can walk down to the beach and castle or further afield if you wish. We will return, it's one of the best sites we have been to with definitely the very best owners who have plans for even more improvements and developments in the near future. Worth every penny

The staff were excellent and went out of their way to help in anyway they could.

The staff were excellent and went out of their way to help in anyway they could. Toilet and shower were both clean and the shower was always warm. The site is quiet and each pitch has adequate space. The location is amazing: walking distance to the stunning bay of Manobier with its castle and beach and a short drive from the bustling town of Tenby. We stayed longer than planned as we enjoyed it so much. We would recommend it to anyone and will definitely return.
