Overview

Our site a mile from the attractions of Oxford city. Catch a bus from outside the site.

City break or countryside adventure, the choice is yours if you camp at our Oxford Club campsite. Located just a mile outside the centre of Oxford, the campsite is the perfect base for exploring the magnificent city of dreaming spires. Camping in Oxford doesn't get any better than this.

It’s hard to believe this pleasant bolt hole is so close to the city. It's restful ambience makes it ideal to kick back and relax after a day pounding the streets of Oxford. Trees line this well laid out site, pitches are level and a good range of facilities are available.

Walk, cycle or catch the bus (there’s a stop right outside the site) into the city and you’ll find plenty to see and do. Don’t miss the University Museum of Natural History (the most complete remains of any single dodo are here) and the Pitt Rivers and Ashmolean Museums, the latter has 67 galleries to explore. A guided walking tour is the best way to see the University colleges and botanic Garden. There are themed tours too including an Inspector Morse and a Harry Potter Tour. And a punt on the River Cherwell is a must.

The countryside around Oxford has its own delights. Not to be missed is the magnificent Baroque house – Blenheim Palace and its fine parkland in Woodstock. The Oxfordshire Museum is here too and tells the story of Oxfordshire through its galleries and exhibitions. The Cotswold Wildlife Park and Gardens is also worth a visit.

This really is the best of all the campsites in Oxford.

I have not been on a camp site for a approx 20 years.

This review is for Oxford

I have not been on a camp site for a approx 20 years. My first CCC site was about 3 weeksago near Newquay and was well impressed with the site and how things had moved on with heated shower block. The facilities toilets/showers at Oxford need updating and remineded how camping was years ago. I think an amendment needs puting on the Oxford website that when the site is full the usage of electric hook up can not always maintained.

This site is situated on outskirts of Oxford with easy access, and so close to Park and Ride so can go into Oxford without using a car. Oxford city centre is lovely and historical with many old buildings belonging to the many colleges. Would really recommend Oxford Castle Unlocked which is brilliant attraction telling the story of this former prison. Also nearby is lovely market town of Abingdon. Many good restaurants in the city and suburbs. Finally would say the site is an excellent base for Oxford and surrounding area, and as always site staff are friendly and helpful.

This review is for Oxford

The site changed my pitch the afternoon before Easter arrival, to a pitch called OVERSPILL. They sent a new confirmation with no explanation of what this meant, where I would be located, if I would have electric etc. I called and left messages, no reply. On arrival (after calling the site 5 times before they answered the next morning, I was told to ignore it with no apology for the anxiety and worry they had caused). I was then given a poor pitch. Still no apologies for a sleepless night and the next morning frantic calls to try and locate another site if I could. The power supply kept failing, as the site has a poor old style 10amp system which could not seem to cope with the many caravans and motorhomes, as whole sections of the site would go out. At one point it failed three times in one evening, The reps did not seem to react quickly to such inconveniences to its customers. Fences between pitches were broken, some old caravans seem to be left on the site. The toilet block was very old and never looked clean. It just had a grubby and dirty feel to it. The approach road to the site via GO Outdoors will leave many motorhomes and caravans with damage I am sure due to the pot holes. Also after I paid the outstanding in full on arrival, I found after my departure this site added another 3 to my bill and now it shows only deposit paid at site and I owe another 3 which is unacceptable. They should be refunding me in full for having ruined a long awaited break over Easter. This site in my opinion is not up to the standards one expects from The Camping and Caravan Club site and as a member I feel I am entitled to expect better standards. The site is in need of urgent major refurbishment. Very disappointed.
