Overview

Our site a mile from the attractions of Oxford city. Catch a bus from outside the site.

City break or countryside adventure, the choice is yours if you camp at our Oxford Club campsite. Located just a mile outside the centre of Oxford, the campsite is the perfect base for exploring the magnificent city of dreaming spires. Camping in Oxford doesn't get any better than this.

It’s hard to believe this pleasant bolt hole is so close to the city. It's restful ambience makes it ideal to kick back and relax after a day pounding the streets of Oxford. Trees line this well laid out site, pitches are level and a good range of facilities are available.

Walk, cycle or catch the bus (there’s a stop right outside the site) into the city and you’ll find plenty to see and do. Don’t miss the University Museum of Natural History (the most complete remains of any single dodo are here) and the Pitt Rivers and Ashmolean Museums, the latter has 67 galleries to explore. A guided walking tour is the best way to see the University colleges and botanic Garden. There are themed tours too including an Inspector Morse and a Harry Potter Tour. And a punt on the River Cherwell is a must.

The countryside around Oxford has its own delights. Not to be missed is the magnificent Baroque house – Blenheim Palace and its fine parkland in Woodstock. The Oxfordshire Museum is here too and tells the story of Oxfordshire through its galleries and exhibitions. The Cotswold Wildlife Park and Gardens is also worth a visit.

This really is the best of all the campsites in Oxford.

We visited the site as we had to visit a hospice in the area.. not normally a joyous event.

We visited the site as we had to visit a hospice in the area.. not normally a joyous event. The welcome from John when we arrived was very friendly, despite the late hour. The facilities at the site may seem dated to some, but that's just cosmetic. John and his team keep the site/facilities in excellent condition; everything works as it should do.. what more could you want? The Park & Ride bus system right outside the gates is definite bonus and so easy to use with great access to Oxford. We will have no hesitation in returning.

Ideal for Oxford, relaxed and extremely well maintained, & because it is in the vicinity of both rail and easy bus links, inevitably not as quiet as a remote location, but perfect for local access to the city centre. Both affordable and welcoming, with modest but exceptionally well-kept facilities. Ideal site.

The first thing I have to say is that the main description saying that the pitches are level needs to be changed. Subsidence means that the pitches and even the access roads are anything but even. CCC explain that the only lease they can get is a one year rolling one so investment in the site is not possible but the wardens work very hard with what they've got and the facilties were spotless. By having everyone park on the access roads rather than the pitches meant we got hardstanding on a very wet week so this was much appreciated. There is noise from the train line, dual carriageway and milk depot next door so this shouldn't be regarded as a peaceful retreat but with with buses to Oxford every few minutes this is a great site for exploring the city.
