Overview

Our site a mile from the attractions of Oxford city. Catch a bus from outside the site. City break or countryside adventure, the choice is yours if you camp at our Oxford Club campsite.

Located just a mile outside the centre of Oxford, the campsite is the perfect base for exploring the magnificent city of dreaming spires. Camping in Oxford doesn't get any better than this.

It’s hard to believe this pleasant bolt hole is so close to the city. It's restful ambience makes it ideal to kick back and relax after a day pounding the streets of Oxford. Trees line this well laid out site, pitches are level and a good range of facilities are available.

Walk, cycle or catch the bus (there’s a stop right outside the site) into the city and you’ll find plenty to see and do. Don’t miss the University Museum of Natural History (the most complete remains of any single dodo are here) and the Pitt Rivers and Ashmolean Museums, the latter has 67 galleries to explore. A guided walking tour is the best way to see the University colleges and botanic Garden. There are themed tours too including an Inspector Morse and a Harry Potter Tour. And a punt on the River Cherwell is a must.

The countryside around Oxford has its own delights. Not to be missed is the magnificent Baroque house – Blenheim Palace and its fine parkland in Woodstock. The Oxfordshire Museum is here too and tells the story of Oxfordshire through its galleries and exhibitions. The Cotswold Wildlife Park and Gardens is also worth a visit.

This really is the best of all the campsites in Oxford.

We stayed for 2 nights when it was really cold.

This review is for Oxford

We stayed for 2 nights when it was really cold. We were put on a hard standing as the grass could be a bit soft to drive on when it thawed out. We were welcomed by the camp staff who showed us onto our pitch and explained where the facilities were. The site is only a mile from the centre of Oxford, a very easy walk or buses are available at the Park & Ride. The staff couldn't have been more helpful, advising us on the best route to walk in and what to see. There are small supermarkets nearby and a club shop on the site with a reasonable range of items. Go Outdoors is at the entrance of the site, very handy for any items you may have forgotten to bring. There is a railway line passing not far from the site and roads around, but we didn't find this obtrusive. If you want to stay in a town you must accept town life can be noisier than a rural site. We forgot to get the barrier code when we went out one night and rang the site to ask what it was. The site Warden took the trouble to ring us back to make sure we had it. There are friendly ducks wandering around which are very entertaining. We had a very enjoyable stay and will definitely be returning.

The site is a city site so expect noise, there is work going on the nearby railway line but it didn't affect us and we were parked next to it. On a personal note the warden parked us up on the pitch they had selected for us, I then received a phone call telling me I may have a family issue and may need to leave at very short notice. I explained this to the warden who resited us to a pitch where we could leave no problem. He was very understanding as asked if he could help further. This certainly helped with my stress levels so i'd like to thank them publicly. Everything else about the site has been said before.

The buses are close by and run til late.

The buses are close by and run til late. We were put on hardstanding (which was appreciated as the grass was very wet) but we had to move early as the people on the roadway behind us wanted to get out and as we were "stacked" 2 vans had to move. A little irritating. Toilets are old but clean and the water was hot. Great for an overnighter in Oxford.

Very handy huge camping shop next door to site. Staff were wonderfully helpful to us. We were on our first outing with our beloved new motorhome and we really hadn't got a clue how to work things inside it, especially the tv. Thank you staff.
