Overview

Great site for exploring the pretty Cotswolds towns and their attractions.

Amid the honey-coloured villages of the Cotswolds is where you’ll find the Club’s charming Chipping Norton campsite. Tucked away off the beaten track, this campsite offers a mix of level and sloping pitches, surrounded by trees and dry stone walls.

If it’s peace and tranquillity you are after, this site delivers in spades. But it would a shame not to venture off site and explore the beauty of the Cotswolds. Hop in your car or catch the bus right outside the site and discover the charms of Chipping Norton itself, Chadlington, Charbury and Witney for starters.

No stay at Chipping Norton campsite should be without a visit to Stow on the Wold, Bourton-on-the- Water and Batsford. As well as brimming with charm, they boast an eclectic mix of family attractions including Birdland and a model village in Bourton. Batsford Arboretum and Hidcote Manor are also worth visiting.

Worth Noting

Most pitches are sloping so chocks will be required. The site has full recycling facilities.

We were booked into the Cornbury Festival, just outside Chipping Norton, and was very easy to get there from the site. Much cheaper to stay at Ch Norton than book for the weekend at the festival, and much more relaxing.

Some pitches, ours included, were right beside a very busy road.

Some pitches, ours included, were right beside a very busy road. Many pitches are in almost constant shade. There are insufficient showers for a site of this size.Too few drinking water taps. Good recycling facilities. Lots of interesting places to visit within easy driving distance.

We had a choice of sloping or under the trees near the road - sloping in never good in a tent but we did underestimate the noise from the road. Nice site with good, clean facilities. Visits to Chipping Norton and Moreton are recommended if you like typical English Villages (we do). We chose the site as we had booked a tour of The Cotswold Distillery - well worth a visit!
