Overview

Great site for exploring the pretty Cotswolds towns and their attractions.

Amid the honey-coloured villages of the Cotswolds is where you’ll find the Club’s charming Chipping Norton campsite. Tucked away off the beaten track, this campsite offers a mix of level and sloping pitches, surrounded by trees and dry stone walls.

If it’s peace and tranquillity you are after, this site delivers in spades. But it would a shame not to venture off site and explore the beauty of the Cotswolds. Hop in your car or catch the bus right outside the site and discover the charms of Chipping Norton itself, Chadlington, Charbury and Witney for starters.

No stay at Chipping Norton campsite should be without a visit to Stow on the Wold, Bourton-on-the- Water and Batsford. As well as brimming with charm, they boast an eclectic mix of family attractions including Birdland and a model village in Bourton. Batsford Arboretum and Hidcote Manor are also worth visiting.

Worth Noting

Most pitches are sloping so chocks will be required. The site has full recycling facilities.

We have just returned from a very pleasant 4 night break at this site.

We have just returned from a very pleasant 4 night break at this site. The holiday site managers gave us an excellent welcome and gave us plenty of time to choose a pitch, particularly as it was quite strong wind and we didn't really want to be under the trees. We settled on a pitch in the middle of the field[no.61] which was almost level and only required a very small amount of chocking up one wheel. The site is well placed for visiting many places in that part of the Cotswolds. Witney, Burford and Stow in the Wold are all worth a visit and in September don't appear to be too busy with large volumes of traffic.A little further afield we discovered a very nice café and tearoom in the square by the church in Deddington. We will probably return to the Chipping Norton site next year as there is still plenty to see in the area. One word of warning--if you are approaching the site on the A361 from Banbury beware ot the series of quite severe double bends in the village of South Newington as several 30 to 40 foot articulated lorries use this road.

First time at this site and very impressed. Staff really helpful for the whole week that we were there. Facilities very clean and showers that you could switch on and would stay on. A car is needed to get anywhere but plenty of lovely places to visit. Really nice area. Chipping Norton has plenty of proper shops and places to eat. New bus stop at entrance going to places like Oxford, Chipping N. and Witney. Great place - thanks.

As other reviews mention staff very friendly and helpful, they did their best to accomodate our needs. Smallish very clean and tidy site with the main issue being that a few pitches are right next to the busy road, we did know beforehand but nevertheless very noisy from 7am weekdays. Site is fairly isolated with a need to drive to most places. Chipping Norton a couple of miles away but busy road without pavements meant we didnt walk it.

Our first camping expedition and so we were happy to be welcomed so warmly and shown to our pitch. The site is very clean and tidy and well maintained. Although the showers and toilets appear a little dated - they are very clean. There is also a nice dishwasher area, although the drains were a little smelly on Friday night when the site was full. The nearby road was a bit noisy at nighttime, but not a big problem as we were pitched well away from it. A small play park was just the ticket to keep the kids busy, but you can't play football or frisbee as there is not enough space. Not a bad site for a few nights stay, and Chipping Norton and the Cotswolds are great, especially if you are a member of the National Trust, lots to do.
