Great host with nicely laid out site.

Great host with nicely laid out site. New block this month! Brilliant open tidy site run by Andy, who cares about your stay. Other posts mention the original basic facilities. Fear not, we were shown around the new block due for completion this month. Take your bikes as the five mile Sustrans run into York runs past the door. Alternatively the bus only takes 15 min's. When on site though you could be in the middle of nowhere. Peaceful, quiet and a nice walk of 10 min's to the pub in Naburn.

Nice flat site in great location decent hard standings facilities very basic being upgraded The pitch we had was good and the site is in a great location close to the Designer Outlet and just an easy drive into York. As has been mentioned in other reviews the facilities are basic and not worth the price. We may have been spoilt by all previous sites we have been on but would not visit this site again till the facilities block has been completed. Hopefully this will be done soon along with all the other work going on.

As per reviews supported from Google.... unfriendly staff. Basic facilities. Great location for exploring York though. Great Location for the galaxy bike trail. Easy access to York, outlet shopping, air museum etc. All within about 20 mins drive or closer. First time visit to York and really like the place and would revisit. HOWEVER NOT AT THIS SITE. When you forget the code to the gate & leave it in the van... and then get told off by the owner (despite us not asking for his help - intending to retrieve it ourselves by foot from van) Apparently we should have put it straight into our phones upon arrival. Setting the van up seemed more important. The site is advertised as family friendly. But it seemed that ball games were not included (no notice of this). We apologised when the owner came to feed the sheep... but it seems that was too late. Our kids asked if they could help feed the sheep (pour bucket into another bucket) they were met with an abrupt no. Still a hangup from ball games we assume... I am sure he then cursed us - infront of the kids. After that we avoided him at all costs. Would have left early but had paid upfront. Didn't fancy the challenge of getting money back. Facilities very basic... two toilets. Functional. Showers and washing up facilities only had lukewarm water. Not good enough really for 175 for one week. To wrap a poor visit up... they are extending the site. Lots of building work with no notice of this. No apologies. No peace and quiet during the daylight for us. Such a shame really - York great. Site poor. Will not revisit.

Nice site will return if going to York again A nice pleasant site, under redevelopment and looks like it should be really nice once finished with more hard standing pitches. Peaceful quiet atmosphere, near to marina and local village. Easy access, very close to cycle route, handy for anyone wanting to explore safely on cycle. Helpfull owner/family. We had a nice 2 night break despite the cold weather.
