Overview

Between the North York Moors National Park and the Howardian Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this peaceful campsite welcomes you to Yorkshire.

Our pretty Slingsby Club campsite sits between the rolling Howardian Hills to the south and the Vale of Pickering and the North York Moors National Park to the north making the campsite a popular base for walkers.

Situated in a peaceful location on the edge of a village, the level, well maintained campsite has modern facilities including a laundry, dish washing area and a well equipped amenity block.

There are plenty of walking opportunities direct from the campsite. Slingsby village, for example, is within walking distance and surrounded by an intricate network of lanes, footpaths and bridleways.

The area is dotted with magnificent historic buildings. Take your pick from gems including the magnificent 18th century Castle Howard, Nunnington Hall, Newburgh Abbey, Helmsley Castle and Rievaulx Abbey.

Three of the area’s most popular attractions are within 15 miles of the campsite. There’s Flamingoland with its wild animals and wilder rides, the modern history theme museum – Eden Camp and the North York Moors Railway which runs a scenic route from Pickering to Whitby.

The medieval city of York, around a half hour’s drive away, is famous for its city walls, minster and a variety of museums. The city’s Park and Ride scheme accommodates motorhomes.

There are only Club Service pitches so the fee of £3.85 will apply at all times.

This site is a lovely friendly site with open views over the countryside.

This review is for Slingsby

This site is a lovely friendly site with open views over the countryside. Site managers are pleasant and efficient. The shower block is dated but very clean however there are no grab rails in the showers but water nice and hot. The disabled/mother and baby room is very good and requires a Radar Key which can be borrowed from site manager with a returnable deposit or get your own from your local council. Some of the pitches have only 10amp hook up so its worth checking when you book. The site sells limited supplies of essentials as does the small shop in the village. The Station House by the site entrance bake great cakes and fruit loaves There is a good bus service to Malton but only 3x per day to Helmsley. The pub in the village serves really good food lunch and evenings but is closed on Mondays except Bank Holidays. There are lots of walks in the area some of them hard to find because of the crops in the fields and farmers not maintaining the footpaths. A nice walk is along the old railway track to Hovingham with its Hall, Pub, tea shop and a village market held on the 1st Saturday of each month. This was our 2nd visit to this site and love the peace and tranquillity of the area and we will be back again.

One of our favourite CCC sites on the edge of a tranquil Yorkshire village.

This review is for Slingsby

One of our favourite CCC sites on the edge of a tranquil Yorkshire village. Ideal for anyone who appreciates the peace and quiet of the countryside. The Grapes in the village is a great traditional pub serving good food and a good selection of cask ales. All the amenities you could wish for are in the bustling market towns nearby, Malton, Hemsley and Pickering where you can board the North Yorkshire steam railway to Whitby. Castle Howard is on the door-step and plenty of good walks from the site too. The site is kept in immaculate condition by the friendly wardens.

Just 6miles from Milton where there is a Morrison and ASDA supermarket.

This review is for Slingsby

Just 6miles from Milton where there is a Morrison and ASDA supermarket. There is a train station with connections to Scarborough and York. A fuel station just after the level crossing. We found the best Chinese take away on our last evening, it is a must if you like Chinese food. Nearby attractions include Eden Camp, NYMR from Pickering, Howard Castle and plenty of seaside towns.
