Between the North York Moors National Park and the Howardian Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this peaceful campsite welcomes you to Yorkshire.
Our pretty Slingsby Club campsite sits between the rolling Howardian Hills to the south and the Vale of Pickering and the North York Moors National Park to the north making the campsite a popular base for walkers.
Situated in a peaceful location on the edge of a village, the level, well maintained campsite has modern facilities including a laundry, dish washing area and a well equipped amenity block.
There are plenty of walking opportunities direct from the campsite. Slingsby village, for example, is within walking distance and surrounded by an intricate network of lanes, footpaths and bridleways.
The area is dotted with magnificent historic buildings. Take your pick from gems including the magnificent 18th century Castle Howard, Nunnington Hall, Newburgh Abbey, Helmsley Castle and Rievaulx Abbey.
Three of the area’s most popular attractions are within 15 miles of the campsite. There’s Flamingoland with its wild animals and wilder rides, the modern history theme museum – Eden Camp and the North York Moors Railway which runs a scenic route from Pickering to Whitby.
The medieval city of York, around a half hour’s drive away, is famous for its city walls, minster and a variety of museums. The city’s Park and Ride scheme accommodates motorhomes.
There are only Club Service pitches so the fee of £3.85 will apply at all times.

This was our first visit to Slingsby and we had a short weekend (2 nights) at the site, arriving just after 7pm on the Friday evening.
The managers Susan and Stephen were really helpful from the moment we arrived allowing us to choose from the available pitches, asking us if we needed to top up with water first, and clearly explaining the site amenities.
The help was even extended as we asked about the locality and the best places to walk etc. and the small shop was put to great use as we managed to purchase some coffee we had forgotten.
The on site amenities were excellent with clean showers and facilities, a large washing up area, and an easily accessible motor home service point.
We purchased a 24 hr Site Wi-Fi pass which always had a good signal.
Most of the other reviews and the site description already cover the local area and the many places and walks.
We enjoyed a lovely walk along the public footpath directly outside the site entrance into the neighboring village of Hovingham followed by a return to Slingsby village and an ale or two in the lovely local village pub.
This is definitely a site that we will look forward to returning to.

Site location and facilities adequate. However, the warden was grumpy and unhelpful during our visit and the showers had very limited hot water which appeared to run out half way through a shower. One pub in the village and a shop with limited opening times. There are far better C&C sites elsewhere so no need to use this one if you want an enjoyable stay.
