The surrounding area

Our Scarborough Club Site lies just north of the Victorian seaside resort of the same name and is perfectly located for exploring the North Yorkshire Heritage Coast and the North York Moors National Park.

West of the campsite North Riding Forest Park (or Dalby Forest as it is also known) has many waymarked trails for walkers and mountain bikers. You can go orienteering here too. Go Ape! offers tree top adventures with ropes and zip wires or, if you prefer to keep your feet on the ground, enjoy the forest on a Segway.

Head north to Staintondale for the Shire Horse Centre. Learn about the North Yorkshire coast at the Ravenscar Coastal Centre. From here it’s a three-mile beach walk to the pretty fishing village of Robin Hood’s Bay. Whitby, ten miles further on, offers the Captain Cook Memorial Museum, Lifeboat Museum and Whitby Abbey. Catch a train to Grosmont, the terminus, for the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. This 18-mile heritage line runs across the National Park to Pickering. Jump off at Goathland or Aidensfield for TV's Heartbeat fans.

This review is for Scarborough

We have stayed here several times but will be reluctant to stay again. I appreciate the site was busy in high season but the shower blocks always seemed in need of cleaning. The shower blocks appear "tired and dated" and in desparate need of modernisation.

I would definitely purchase the weekly bus pass.

This review is for Scarborough

I would definitely purchase the weekly bus pass. The bus stop is outside the campsite on Field Lane. It is a circular route around Scarborough. What the last bus time though, as it is about 15:30 hrs. But there is another bus, which runs until 18:00 hrs, but you have a steep hill to walk up. We regualry got the open top buses from North bay to South bay and then back again and walked up the steep steps onto the cliffe. Will take about half an hour from the bottom of the steps to get back to the campsite. I drove into Scarboough about 6 pm, as there is free parking. Even over the bank holiday weekend, I didn't have much of a problem. My son fished most evenings at the end of the pier and went on a 6 hour fishing trip. He used the company 'The Yorkshire Rose' and they were fantastic. My son is only 16 yrs old and the lady, Jill, who took the booking, phoned me, whilst he was out fishing. to reassure me that he was ok. The sealife centre was brilliant. I thought it was better than the one in London, and you can purchase cheaper tickets from the campsite shop. There is a surf school on North Bay but unfortunately, the surf wasn't very good when we wanted to go, so will be visiting again October time. Balby Manor is just a couple of minutes walk from the campsite and we went there about 3 times during our visit. The Carvery was really good value, but the prices are about 2:00 more on a Sunday. I will be booking again next year. A massive thank you to all the wardens for my enjoyable stay.

A lovely site in an excellent location, such a shame that it is let down by the showers and toilets which were dirty, smelly and dated with blocked toilets and sinks. Location is excellent for costal walk into Scarborough and there is a pub next door. Staff were very welcoming.
